Yes, because every American came out of WW2 super rich.

I wonder what the tattoo numbers are for the greatest generation. I seem to remember quite a few former military guys from that generation with multiple tattoos acquired during the wars in Europe and the Pacific.

Yes, the Boomers entering the workforce in the 1960's that were able to purchase a house and car on a single-income family. You all had it really rough.

I’m not talking about your personal situation. I’m talking macro economics

more of a born on 3rd base thing than a trust fund thing

the macro economic situation was incredibly favorable and as we now know, it was kind of fake

I hate that my generation (millennial) has normalized tattoos. No woman looks better with ink than she would without.

One of my favorite things about the trashy tatt craze are the people that buy clothes as an accessory to their artwork. One of my favorites is when you have a sneaky slut, who wears her hair in a bun to show off the back of her neck tat.

Dude, I was just being born then. My parents were born just before WWII and they barely miss being boomers as well. There was nobody born in my age group that was buying their house and car on a single family income. You are talking about a very specific group of people and even then, only those who had the right college degrees. It was hard as hell to buy a house in the 80's.

There were a ton of boomers just entering the workforce in the mid to late 70's. You need to remember just how large a group you are speaking of and that it spans almost 20 years. Most of the other groups are around a decade. Things were very different for those born in 1946-1950 than those born 1956-1964. Not the same world at all.

Sorry you are bitter and poor. Obviously the boomers in your family werent smart enough to take advantage of such a bountiful time.

Yeah, i remember the good old days the boomers had as adults with house mortgages interest rates being in the double digits, yp to as high as 18%. Mum took a mortgage in the 1980s when the interest rate was high but paid it off early and sold it and upgraded.

You want me to spot you a loan for 18% so you can feel like a boomer too?

Quote the opposite actually. Myself and my family have been prosperous despite the shitty economic climate of the last 40 years. Still doesn’t give a pass to the boomers.

the boomers really did have it easier...

Absolutely. "Easier" in just about every way possible in comparison to every other generation in US history (including Gen X and especially the much-maligned Millennial.)

"Baby Boomer" age bracket reminder: those born between 1946-1964 -- basically the same as the New York Yankees Dynasty :-)

The key metric here (with all due respect to your Tattoos and Obesity Charts) is... FREEDOM.

Boomers were the first generation of American to be able to truly "Cut-it-Loose" in the wake of WW2's stretch of high tension and threats.

For Boomers there was an extraordinary balance of free speech, freedom of movement, (thanks to enforced laws and relatively ethical, honest gubmint.)

One could afford goods & services; medical care was affordable; Earnings were far more fairly commiserate with abilities; Economic opportunities could often arise through hard work; Pensions were available in the private sector as a fringe benefit; Loyalty in general was often also a presumed benefit and expectation to most factions -- whether work-related, play-related, community-related or consumer-related.

Boomers grew up in a far less "Tribal" America and far more accepting America of its 'Melting Pot."

If a young Boomer was willing to "work and/or think hard" The Boomer Gen could actually and quite easily:

* Move out of their parents house. Buy a home/car. Be economically independent.

* Attend (affordable) college

* Live in a far restrictive USA (whether of geography, forming relationships, friendships & association -- along with freedom of speech.

Boomers experienced the best of America...and now worst of it -- albeit at the tail end of The Ride.

GenX'ers are the last Gen to get a good strong whiff and partial experience of the last of Glorious Late Great 'Murica. But also have the misfortune of getting whacked as America gets flipped on its head just as they are supposed to be living their largest.

Millennials.

The oldest among you did actually see enough of Ye Olde Glorious America (and remember enough of it, pre-911.) The strongest among you know dayum-well what exactly has transpired and are truly p*ssed off enough to cause you to fight like rabid SOBs for your "inheritance" of being "Free, "American" (and "Christian".)

You Millennials will wind up as the most courageous bad-azzes in US History.

The weakest of the Millennials (unfortunately the vast majority) have surrendered easily to all the programming and assault their your senses and soul. Many never knew any better.

May God help us all in our respective mental and spiritual battle to withstand the Enemy Within as well as Without.

"American" it turns out was a "nation" for less than a century. Today it's just an "Ideal," a state of mind. That main "Ideal" is..."FREEDOM."
