I am out but I think your best bet is the boats or drillers. Good luck.

If you have any sort of degree from any institution, even an art school, they will look at you for an entry level roustabout position over someone that just has a high school diploma or GED. They may even fast track you to an office position after a couple of years if you excel at whatever they put you to do.

Give me a little background on yourself. Age, education, work experience and where do live.

I'll give you my 2 cents worth.

And other drilling companies are Seadrill and Pacific Drilling. Both very good companies.

I was talking to an AD (assistant driller for newbies) on a Pacific Drilling ship and he told us he was making $180 G's and the drillers were knocking down $220K.

The pay cut moving from offshore to office is pretty normal. Depending on how big or small the cut is, it's still worth it to some people that are done with the offshore work and want something easier and more laid back. Some want to stay offshore more $$ as long as their bodies allow them to do it.

I'm just fricking with you bro.

You're young and have an education, you should be able to get your foot in the door somewhere. Some jobs or employers are retarded with their "3 years minimum experience" requirements. It's a very frustrating catch 22 sometimes. Can't get the job without experience, can't get the experience without the job. Very frustrating.

And that good sir, is a roustabout. Bitch work galore. You'd also probably be working around the crane area with the crane operator helping load/offload shite to and from boats.

My suggestion for starting out

Go online and complete all of the online apps you can stand

Look on rig zone

Try to hit all the tank cleaning and remediation companies on 90 and in abbeville

Or get your T2 certification and try to get on with contract operator companies

Look for all the big job fairs and go fill out the apps

For us, SLB, if you don't have some sort of in at a local ops level and you don't have even a two yr degree you are wasting your time.

The big service companies are getting four year degrees and foreigners with advanced degrees to starrt entry level. Competition is sky high.

On land all the big pumping companies are looking for trainees but that is a tough gig. Try the flow back companies and testing companies.

If you want to work in ND or Penn they will hire you for PPS and flow back work.
