quote:no it is not......but it is too much for Louisiana Government. Fed DOT needs to come in and demand a fix to progress or loss of fed dollars.
it’s too large of a challenge for Louisiana. It exceeds our capabilities.

There are plenty of smart engineers in Louisiana that could implement solutions. The problem is that solutions be racis

Can I vote for you for Mayor?

The problem is that it will take a few billlion dollars to solve, and nobody (particularly Republicans in the legislature) wants to pay the freight.
I am a Republican, btw. Give me a gas tax to vote for, and I'll vote for it.

At this point I'm convinced the city of Baton Rouge would prefer to have major traffic issues rather push state and federal officials to build a southern bypass.
There is truly no logical explanation why literally nothing has been done to solve the problems created by having a major interstate pass through the middle of the capital of our state. Yes the interstate has been widened over the years but that's just to allow for traffic generated by local residents who use the interstate to get around town.

No LAhas stupid shite engineers
Why are the schools and state accrediting so shitty ?
Pot hole they filled I12 westbound with asphalt has a 2 inch rise, much worse at millerville
Drusilla I12 bridge approach joints are 1 inch off
Airline east and west I 12 approach joints are 1 inch off
Many many others
Yea....the roadway has settled

In all fairness, the accident today was a result of a vehicle being
chased by police and striking 10 cars.

Another day, another probable several million dollars in lost time and wages for thousands of working Americans spent simply trying to cross An interstate bridge . At 7:00 pm, hours after a wreck near Acadian ,traffic on 1-10 and I-12 was backed up for miles. Thousands of cars just idling because any wreck , no matter how small brings the whole thing to a screeching halt. It will never change. It is our fate. We are too stupid as a state to expect to be able to handle something any decent state would have solved a quarter of a century ago. My entire life the State of Louisiana has suffered a crisis of imagination. It sets the bar really low and then still can’t get over it.
A West Bank bypass to a toll bridge down river that connects to Ascension Parish (I-10) and then I-12 ( Livingston) is impossible . A loop ? Impossible. There is neither the imagination or the will to solve these problems and improve our quality of life . There is and will always be nothing more than a shitty status quo. Baton Rudge.
Rant over.

Yeah it was the lead story on the news . The wreck didn’t cause the jam, the wreck actually happened when the idiot ran into the jam. This crap is almost every day anyhow .
Thursday I have to go from Bluebonnet to Addis mid afternoon. What should take 25 minutes I will have to allot two hours for. And then of course I have to get back. One appointment across the River takes up a half day or worse.

quote:we had a gas tax that failed last election. It failed because the people don't trust the LA government to disperse tax dollars appropriately anymore. Until the spends ng is slashed more taxes can't pass. We are one of the highest taxed states with one of the shittiest infrastructures because misappropriation of funds and plain old over spending and lining family members and doners pockets.

I live in Denham and work in Plaquemine (worst case scenerio right now). Need to be at work at 7:00. I normally leave home at 5:50-6:00 and get to work on time. On Monday I left home at 5:30 and went old bridge and up LA1. Got to the last red light before intracoastal at 6:15. Got to work at 7:45. So Tuesday I left home at 5:00 and went new bridge, got to the foot of new bridge at 5:20 and was over intracoastal at 7:10. frick this place!!!!!! I have been sitting in traffic for over 2 hours every morning just to get to work. So I don't want to hear your little pussy arse delays right now. frick off.

Why wont LA do Texas style toll roads? All the toll roads around Austin have been built by private companies in exchange for 20 to 30 year agreements of toll profits.
Austin traffic is still a little fudged up, but in ten years this area has built 5 to 8 new toll highways that really help. Seems like a toll road around the Baton Rouge bottleneck would make a killing.

I lost a large commission today because I couldn’t get to my client in Addis. Now I may make that up later in the week or I may not. Every 18 wheel driver sitting there is burning money. I think anybody who sits in traffic, lives over there, or who has a client base there has a beef. Imagine just having to get your kids back and forth or visit someone who depends on you. It’s not just you man.

In a town the size of Baton Rouge, if you depend on the interstate every day, you fricked up. Shack up somewhere close to the river and grab a bike. Problem:solved.

Baton Rouge had the 10th highest murder rate in the nation last year. And traffic is still the main issue people care about.
People are more concerned about traffic jams than being shot dead. Goes to show you how bad the traffic is.
