Yep, there was no need to drop it other than as a show of force to Russia. Japan didn’t even surrender as a result of the bombs, it surrendered to the US after Russia invaded to avoid succumbing to Soviet rule.
Not to mention the fact that in the lead up to Hiroshima, the US intentionally gave peace terms it knew Japan could never accept.

I think Japan should be thanking us for ending their military dictatorship. Ask the Chinese about what they think of Japan. They are the reason China is run by the CCP. Japan should carry more water in the current world stage but they can't trust the idiots in charge right now.

At the Casablanca Conference in January 1943, Roosevelt for the first time said they would accept noting less than unconditional surrender from Germany, Japan, and Italy. That stance was reiterated by Truman at the Potsdam Conference in July 1945. Italy unconditionally surrendered to the Allies in September 1943 and Germany followed suit in May 1945. Japan continued to fight after the Casablanca and Potsdam Declarations of 1943 and 1945.

If any of you had the opportunity to talk to someone who actually fought in the pacific, they would have told you “I don’t agree with us dropping 2 atomic bombs on Japan. We should have dropped 10”.

All of you frickers that are against the bombing have never spoke to someone who fought in the pacific. My great uncle was tortured by those bastards and he said we went easy on them. They were barbaric humans. Truman made the right call, it was going to be 100 times worse.
