They're the same. Some glitch in the system. Same cost to attend too.

ETA:

If you truly can't admit, all other things constant, that you'd choose the better school for your child, then this conversation is over.

You're either just being a troll or you're a shitty parent yourself.

The Resegregation of Baton Rouge

It’s unincorporated. It is not nor has ever been part of Baton Rouge.

What would actually happen to the kids if they went to “bad” schools? The schools thing is and always has been a bullshite excuse for you-know-what, and we all know it.

This is ignorant and an just excuse used by parents in bad school districts to blame those who left district instead of taking ownership of the schools their kids still attend. If “bad schools” is a bullshite excuse why do some declining districts get worse when white flight happens out of district or to private schools like with EBR. If they are leaving just because they are racist you think the schools and district would actually improve.

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that parental involvement solves all solvable “problems.”

Do you know how many times I've met parents of "problem" kids and thought to myself, "now I understand why this student acts like he/she does." There are some terrible, terrible parents out there. Its very sad.

Are you basically saying that school districts (administrators and teachers included) should get little to no blame its just the parents/students fault?

Because the overwhelming majority of the sample size are shitty parents with unexceptional kids.

But this is the OT. These are good people. So the stats don’t really apply to these truly exceptional people and their one-of-a-kind kids.

Look, we all know that McKinley’s prom photos are harder to edit than Live Oak’s.

Meh! Everyone knows that if you have any money you send your kids to private schools in Louisiana. No need to create a new city and school district.

I actually have a strong desire for a good public school option in EBR, and it boggles the mind that it seems to be an after thought for most that it’s even achievable while people continue to move out of the parish for just this reason. This harms the parish fiscally and creates a greater divide between those that remain in the parish.

And if the city doesn’t want to allow the creation of a new ISD to show that public schools can be successful with the proper ingredients, then all that’s left is private school, move away, or incorporate a new city and show what’s possible.

100%.

Do you want your kids to go to school with more or less of those kids?

Some things will never change. There will always be those who work hard and want to better themselves and there will be those who are leeches to society.

I find it hard to blame parents who want a better opportunity for their kids than to have them is schools with students and parents with different values.

White people from the Pacific NW and East Coast don’t understand how bad it is in the Deep South. They’ve never experienced anything like the worst of the worst here.

I remember all the idiot hipsters protesting the closing of the projects in NOLA a few years ago. Zero clue and several were robbed and it worse by the very people they were knighting for.

I think St. George is putting a band aid on a decapitated head. I’d cut my losses and move to a new state. It’s not worth the battle and the issues are so deep that there’s no chance of fixing them in our lifetime imo.

Get out of this dump of a state and enjoy life for all it can be. Or stay because you love crawfish and jazz fest but be prepared to live among retards

Not only that, but they should be thanked for the (at worst) free babysitting they provide.

I guess we know that the new North Baton Rouge economic dev district is spending some cash on a publicist to fight St George.

He article reads like a TBR press release.

I don’t understand the desire to build a new city in the middle of a city that’s been around for 100+ years? Also don’t see how this can be compared to Zachary and central, these have always been outskirt towns and not in the middle of the city.
Y’all may do all this work to get what y’all want and then the federal government or Supreme Court could change it due to racism.

If it’s not something you want to deal with then move to Zachary, central,Denham,or any other suitable area around here?
I really don’t care either way if it passes or not. This does seem like a needless battle that’s not gonna accomplish what is being hoped for.

If you’re going to preemptively blame the rest of the world for the hypothetical problems caused by your kid, then you’re trash.

So you agree that it’s pathetic for EBR public school district parents to blame others for district’s issues and they should take ownership of their kid’s education. That’s what Baker, Zachary, Central, and now St George think as well.

I can find at least 10 parents of EBR kids within the hour and have them report to the bar of your choice downtown just so you can see them roll their eyes at this thought. If you want to make the EBR system work for you, you can get it done, and it’ll make for a better overall experience than any neighboring system can offer.

It’s a lazy thought offered by you, and it’s unfortunately very common.
