The key is NOT trying.
Any time I went out with the goal of either hooking up or finding a girlfriend, I'd strike out.
In fact, I always ended up being single for the duration of time I actually WANTED a girlfriend and as soon as I'd give up caring, one would come into my life.
I found my wife at a Kentucky Derby party at a bar downtown that I attended with the SOLE purpose of partying balls with my friends. I had ZERO intention of even trying to get laid, much less find a girlfriend, much less a wife.
If you are relaxed and having a good time women will come to YOU.

The best way is to not try. If you are trying and you see some girl and you think "I am going to talk to her" and you are nervous... It will show especially when you start talking and in that case you up your chances of doing some stupid shite that will frick things up.
Another key element is connecting. Be a well-rounded person. Be able to have a conversation about a wide range of things. Or at least try to make some type of indirect connection. At the very least, at least let her know that you do not frown on whatever it is she enjoys doing.
If she says "I like to go noodling (for catfish) and you never did it before.. Tell her "really? I never had an opportunity to do that, but I would like to try it out one day. .. Maybe one of these days you can show me".. Something like that leaves the door open.. See how things are going. If she says something like "you should find someone else to go with", then it's not going well. If she says "that would be fun. Me and my boyfriend are going tomorrow if you want to come" then you know she isn't single.. But if she says "We can go whenever you want? You have any plans tomorrow" then you accomplished the first level. From there you are on your own./
