That did happen but I think Amazon put a stop to it. The rest I agree with.
If you sell through Amazon, expect 3 to 5% of your items to come back as damaged and unsellable.
This includes the occasional similar-looking, cheap used items that fraudsters send back in your packaging.
That's one reason why Amazon favors sellers of cheap, imported garbage from China whose product cost is a tiny percentage of the sales price.
If you're selling quality goods with lower margins you're quickly squeezed out.

Part of it is the stores conditioning people that they’ll take anything back for exchange or store credit.
Not going to lie, I’ve brought back 2-3 year old rods to Academy and exchanged for new ones. No questions asked.

Amazon required me to send them a photo of the broken item which I did along with a photo of the Amazon box it came in that was crushed on one side. They didn't bother asking me to return it. Not worth paying the return shipping I assumed.
I had to do the same thing once then the replacement item had the same issue. It was glass and packaged poorly.
I have no doubt they track it and have metrics that trigger if someone is making a lot of claims.
I had a guy last week ask about our return policy before even ordering an item we sold through FBM. Sure enough Saturday he opened a return request less than an hour after receiving the item. No doubt he swapped out my item for his old one. It's a $400 showerhead so when that comes in I will have to deal with it.
I wanted to block him as soon as he asked about the return policy but unlike eBay, Amazon does not allow you to block buyers. At least I have the message of him asking about the return before even ordering so that I can get some of the money back from Amazon through their Safe-T claim.

People on this forum also openly talk about stealing digital media, jailbroken firestick, whatever.
I get downvoted for saying that is no better than the POS that rob stores

You are no better than the videos of the people walking into a store and looting it. Congrats.

0 product despite UPS taking pictures of the delivery
I have seen videos of security cameras showing the delivery person dropping package off, taking the picture, then picking it up and stealing it

We had Amazon refund us an item that they said the carrier lost. We received it two days later. We call to let them know and they were like “all good”, just keep the item and the refund.

It's still happening according to the forums. One seller last week said he had someone's actual garbage returned to him instead of the item.
I read where someone had a cat returned to them

The same thing happened to me on a $800 tool. I tried to get them to charge me for it but the customer service said they already took care of it.
Amazon likely still paid the seller and ate the cost like they did for me today with the Doctor and his claim. If you purchase shipping through some other avenue and only upload the tracking info then Amazon will not cover the lost shipping claims.

UPS drivers? Seems stupid to risk that good of a job for what could be a $5 item for all they know.

I went into Walmart in a pinch to buy some golf balls before a golf trip recently. Every box of Callaway Chromesoft's ($49) had the sleeves of balls swapped out with Noodle golf balls ($18). Any other balls worth hitting were the same.

Maybe I am the stupid one but I believe Karma will find me and stick it in me unlubed if I ever did something like that.

Babytac always brags about how rich and successful he is. I don't know many rich people trying to scam Academy out of an $80 fishing rod.

I dealt with a Doctor today (I looked him up) who made an INR claim for a $400 product despite UPS taking pictures of the delivery. Amazon refunded him but did not count it against me but that's only because I shipped through them. Had I bought shipping not through Amazon I would be out the $400.
Are you sure about that? I just bought some items a few weeks back, worth $500. They were delivered (not through Amazon), but all were stolen. The seller was not required to offer a refund and did not do offer one since their was proof of delivery via photo. Can't you just do the same?
Fortunately, I had something called "purchase protection" insurance on my credit card. I had to submit a police report and send my bank several pieces of information, and eventually got the refund, to my surprise, since I had no proof that the items were stolen.

I cannot wait until every single store has those drop down doors once the button is activated.
Now, I wont go to them, Ill just order my shite online, but itll be fun watching companies spend money to prevent theft.
This can only go on so long before companies lay the golden hammer down.
