Most all of the content over the last month for sure, but really for years now it has been bad, and getting worse!

My Progressive friends have been calling for a boycott of The Advocate for roughly the last month, so this sounds about right.

I haven't looked at The Advocate website for at least a couple of years. Is it still an un-navigable pile of shite?

Funny you say that...
I was wondering how I could look at articles from there from 1971.

The demise of the local paper nationwide isn't really a left/right issue it is a money issue.
With the rise of the internet people shifted to "free" news. Local papers felt they had to follow the editorial style of most of the online outlets.
Local papers used to be the engine that drove news across the country but without the money to keep bullpens filled with grizzled old editors and beats staffed by quality J-school grads they became nothing more than click-bait farms.
We got what we were willing to pay for.

Its'owner is George, a former Democrat candidate for Governor. The paper, especially the editorial page, had been leaning liberal for the past few yrs but these past few mths it has been full blown, USA Today - like. Its editorial column 2 days ago ended with we need to follow a new CNN addition & "listen & learn". Its editorial cartoons have been flaming President Trump daily. Color me gone.

embarrassingly liberal.
They are progressive totalitarians.
They don't get to appropriate the word "liberal" to describe the belief that we shouldn't have freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and right to bear arms. That's anti-liberal.

I know a few people that work there and they have been begging on facebook for donations..I know Georges took a huge hit with the Cuvid-19. With all the bars closed he hasn't been taking in his sacks of money from the video poker machines..

Enjoy not funding those liberal assholes and their blatantly biased rag on a daily basis.

I know of 1 person that works there any agrees with you completely. They've even told me how things get brushed under the rug regularly because it won't get clicks on the website, while actually newsworthy. All these agencies care about these days is advertising dollars.
I've met several of my friend's colleagues, and they are astronomically liberal.

They used to print 3 newspapers a day, The Morning Advocate and a State Times early & evening edition. Now they can't hardly give those papers away. Sure am glad they stop littering my driveway with those annoying & worthless Southeast news editions.

As subscription rates and viewership continues to decline, I hold out hope a news outlet will give viewers/readers credit. Provide a good product and people will pay for it. Same ol, same ol and incorrect information insults the consumer's IQ. I do like the sports section and comics, though.

Yes, it comes down to dollars and cents issue.
Some local papers have the state to thank for some continuing income from local governments. Public notices, minutes of council meetings and other things need to be published in the local official journal.

I used to like to steal my dad’s paper to read the sports stats in the morning. With the internet now, I see no reason to still collect a paper.

A lot of the crowd still likes the feel of holding a newspaper believe it or not.
