If St. George happens, it will be the end of Baton Rouge as we know it. I'm not opposed to BR having a black mayor, but none of the black candidates that are running are worth a damn. I had family in Jackson for several years. Every time I visited, it seemed like the city was getting worse and worse. Now it's an absolute shithole. I pray to God that the same doesn't happen to Baton Rouge.

St. George is gonna happen. Now how do we deal with the fallout?

I don't see how it wouldn't cause irreparable damage to BR because a large section of the city's tax payer base would be gone.

If st George happens it will absolutely destroy Baton Rouge, no question in my mind. The people who own property in Baton Rouge will have their property value plummet.

What I don't understand is, if residents of NBR are so upset about them not getting enough tax dollars why don't they incorporate and become their own city? Like, control their own destiny? Sounds reasonable to me.

Justice will be served when the announcement is made that Alton's killing was justified and they release his toxicology report. This cannot happen soon enough.

I wonder where his shorts are. I would be interested in seeing the condition of the right-side pocket area.

I think you're forgetting that once that happens, they'll be required to provide for themselves and have to be accountable for their actions. That's the last thing they want. It's far easier to have a permanent boogeyman to blame all their problems on while getting more out of the system than they put into it.

This. Easier for them to continue blaming their problems on whites.

I say you've got that completely backwards. The CITY of Baton Rouge is already ruined. The CATS tax debacle proved that.

The only thing that is keeping Baton Rouge afloat politically is the city/parish form of government, and the voters of Zachary, Central, and the proposed St. George.

If St. George does happen, then it is a huge incentive for population growth in the southern part of the parish to offset the advance of black democrats running the place. If St. George is defeated again, then the message will be clear to bail out of East Baton Rouge parish altogether and let it become another Jackson, MS. People not only bailed out of the City of Jackson, they left Hinds County.

Zachary and Central are nice little communities, but St. George is the key to saving East Baton Rouge parish.

I am not one to yell "its the media's fault", but the media can sure be more responsible when reporting these "police shootings of black men" cases. Someone in the media needs to break this shite down.

I would like nothing more than a press conference done like the one Edmonson did after the officer shooting. Start with stills of Sterling waving a gun in the air from store video, release toxicology reports, release gun picture with confirmed prints, serial # scratched off or reported stolen, amount of drugs / illegal CD's & DVD's found at scene.

But honestly it will not matter. It does not matter that he was a criminal, it does not matter he was a felon with a gun, it does not matter that he resisted arrest.
NBR has made up their minds. These people honestly believe those 2 cops rode around until they found a black man to murder for no reason. Anything that is evidence against Sterling is going to be planted by cops.

Again, people like Gary, Denise & Chauna don't give 2 shits about Sterling, his multiple kids or the community of NBR. They are trying to make a name for themselves & nothing else.

Then they can get their own police force to take care of all the crime.

And impose a residency requirement. Hilarity will inevitably ensue.

In the sealed autopsy report that the Feds won't release until after the election.

What is the status on the St George situation? Is there a good chance it will become a city?

If they struggle to get 25% of signatures again, I wouldn't count on it much.

I don't understand how St. George forming its own city will be good for Baton Rouge.

I will start a thread about St George so I don't hijack this thread, I am curious about a few things.

The new plan will make it nearly impossible to not get at least 40% within 2 months easy.

Baton Rouge has 3 options:
1-things stay the same and the demographic and political decline of the city and parish continues
2-St. George is defeated again and white flight accelerates to Livingston and Ascension, so the decline accelerates
3-St. George incorporation and school system succeeds. Growth in southern portion of the parish accelerates, reversing the demographic and political decline of the parish.
Basically, the city of BR has a dim future. Only the strength of the parish can salvage it.

It's only been a month? With the shitstorm that happened afterwards and the Dallas and Baton Rouge shootings....it seems like a years worth of shite...
