That is one of the issues. Allowing someone like that to tote a gun and authority is terrifying.
Up the requirements and the pay.......you get what you pay for.

1) There are open border libertarians and there are those who support immigration restrictions. There isn't a monolithic position. But all libertarians agree that if Republicans had any spine and actually ended or reduced the cradle-to-grave welfare state, our immigration problem would be far less of an issue than it is today.
2) The war on drugs has been a complete failure. And no other government initiative has done more to destroy the civil liberties of Americans. Monstrous policies like CAF are a direct consequence of the criminalization of drugs. And irresponsible people will continue to use and abuse drugs regardless of their legal status.
3) American international military presence is a ruse meant to fleece taxpayers and put money into the pockets of the political class. Our policing the world is a wealth transfer from working class and middle class Americans directly into the bank accounts of lobbyists, defense contractors, corrupt NGO's and charitable foundations run by politicians.
4) Public schools are generally worthless. Why do you think the overwhelming majority of Americans are functionally illiterate about everything other than reality TV and fast food? We spend more money on education in this country and yet live in an idiocracy. Why is that if public schools are so great?
Can't disagree with any of that
But, I've always thought of myself as a Libertarian, but many here have said its Trumpian or Libtard. No in between.

Not sure why. If someone sees this and believes it's a good snapshot of all LEOs, they probably have some type of mental disorder.

I would say he made a really bad decision. Followed it up by several more really bad decisions. He should really rethink his career in Law enforcement, if he still has one.

are you one of those libertarians that isn't pro open border, legalization of all drugs, against all international military presence, pro abolishing public schools?
I am not open borders, but I'd like to see an express lane for people who bring special skills, as well as reduce welfare programs so less people are willing to move in.
I am for the legalization of all drugs. The War on Drugs is a big reason we are currently dealing with a ton if the issues we are dealing with.
I don't mind an international military presence; however, it should be heavily reduced and any politician found making money off the military should be tarred and feathered.
I don't have a ton of opinions on public schools.
I am against crony capitalism, and would love to see curtailment of lobbying in Washington. I believe politicians should have heavily enforced limits on what they can accept, should have overall fundraising limits, and should be subject to the same insider trading rules the common folk are. I also one hundred percent believe politicians should have a cooling off period of over 10 years before they are able to receive any sort of money from working at a lobbying firm, and if they violate that it should be a 30 year jail sentence.
I get pissed that our roads and infrastructure are garbage, yet we believe politicians can handle things that are actually complicated.

More third party support would be nice. Just seems like “libertarians” and tea party people just wanted to be labeled that back then and are now back to being Republicans.
Nope. I'm no longer a registered Libertarian. When I moved recently I registered as an Anti-Federalist. It seems the original Anti-Federalist fears of the office of the president evolving in to a monarchy are being realized.
