It’s way worst than being late, we are busting arse to do last minute cleaning, and cooking etc. The kids/ grandkids are fine they can wait

I love early arrivals… “here you go Barbara, finish mopping the kitchen and arrange the crudités while I go sober up and put some clothes on.”

Old people love to help.

My kids entertain the early arrivals, which guarantees early departure

My dad comes to our house for Thanksgiving lunch every year since my mom died. Lunch is high noon every year. He gets here at 11:30 every year and says " What time we eating?"

Before my mawmaw died, she and pawpaw would show up 2 hours early and tell everyone they probably needed to use the oven to finish cooking whatever they brought.

are you so blind as not to see they are there to help you?

even if not to help cook or clean, they can keep the kids out of the house and out of your way which is a great help in almost all cases

That's what they do. It's probably the only event on their calendar in months.

A lot of people bitching about what their family does and doesn’t do during the holidays……

Just be thankful your family is still here with you

Relax, and try your best to enjoy it

I'm guessing you're speaking of your parents and/or in-laws.

Well, I just spent the past 13 Thanksgiving dinners with friends and family, but not with my parents as my dad passed away in 1994 and my mother in 2010.

That said, just be THANKFUL that you still have them and not bitching if they show up before your appointed time.

I tell my wife’s grandmother to show up 1-2 hours later than the actual time of commencement - that way she shows up on time.

Shite is crazy.

Sure, I’m thankful to have them around still, but it’s not a mutually exclusive situation.
