I've listened to a few corporate earning calls and kept up with interviews on Fox Biz and CNBC, and EVERY SINGLE CEO has started out with thanking front line workers even if it's for a company completely unrelated to the healthcare industry.

Modern corporations are so PC and they're all like little lemmings afraid of offending someone, so expect to hear this A LOT for the next year or two. It's very similar to the military sentiment post-9/11. Cheesy and fake.

This is not a knock on the military at all - this is a rip on the complete phony corporates that pander to EVERYTHING for money. Just watch as the rainbow flags come out on social media next week for all of the corporate pages.

Edit - also, I'm a trucker. I've noticed that as soon as the shelves got restocked the "Thanks Truckers" disappeared and absolutely nothing happened with our concerns over regulation, parking shortages, truck stops charging for parking, etc. It's all phony.

It's not everyone, just the social media mob that apparently rules the country now. They think by cowing down to these idiots on twitter they will get more customers, but most of them are either bots, paid phonys, or just idiots who don't have any money to spend anyway. Just look at how well Chik-Fil-A has done even after they got railroaded online for their supposedly "anti-gay" stance, just ignore them

While that's largely true, I sat in on internal calls (not for external shareholders or customers) where they spent a TON of time on this. While it felt over the top, it's not phony like a show they're putting on to make the stock go up... It's like they're afraid some of the ultra sensitive employees will complain or leave if they're not signaling similar virtues.

Insightful observation. Had not noticed until you pointed it out.

The opening of the NFL draft was some of the most cringeworthy PC arse-kissing I’ve seen in a long, long time. Maybe ever.

I’ll never say the word “hero” ever again. It’s meaningless now.

Well these people are not hero's for treating a flu like virus. That's their damn job. frick the media and the PC assholes that came up with this stupid arse slogan.

The boys/men over in the middle east taking out the terrorist rag heads defending our freedoms are the real hero's.

agreed......and when did teachers become part of those to thank?! Saw a Verizon ad offering discounted packages for front line workers and teachers in thanks. WTF?! I've been moonlighting as a special ed teacher for 2 months! And, the teachers can't figure out a damn common platform for their material. Each one does something different.

There it is.

So would it be ok to thank the medical community if truckers received some of that too?

What front line? There is no front line. It's all B.S.

for those with any sense or respect for the thousands of men who sacrificed their lives for our freedom, no, nurses and doctors are not considered “front line”.

And most hopefully realize its a sad desperate plea for attention from a handful, not something most nurses and doctors would expect or ask for.

As a retired military officer and now an RN I totally agree. This is so embarassing. I'm just doing my job which is expected, just like you are expected to do yours.
