I'd recommend getting in a cab and asking your driver for "ladies".

An Ex-Marine at work has already filled me in on the "ladies" he was there for 3 months.

Based on the responses there are no required vaccinations needed.

Thanks! I also welcome general advice on interacting, shopping, transportation and cuisine. Looking forward to real Pad Thai but I know to not try Tradition Thai.

Why not? You're flying all the way across the world. Get out of your comfort zone and try something new, dude. I ate a god damn fried spider in Cambodia. It was fricking good too. You can get pad Thai in any American city

No phuket?

I agree, Bangkok is great, but it's similar to other Asian cities, with more katoeys

Phuket is solid, I did inland, the kmher road, jungles, supertrees like banyans

Super crazy dirty stuff used to be at Pattaya beach, chicKs in fishbowls you can pick out like a lobster tank, etc.

Look into it, it's only an hour away from Bangkok proper and should be supercheap still

Traditional means it's frickING HOT, I will eat Pad Thai but not the shite blood for three days variety.

You cannot get real food from another country anywhere. I am still looking for good Schwarma's from the middle east, good Jager Snitzel from Germany, and good Italian food from Sicily.

I will check it out, never been there before and based my trip out of Bangkok but am willing to travel, my main reason for the trip is Angkor Wat because I am doing bucket list items on my vacations.

If you eat meals off the beaten path, they will treat you like a king for literally a couple baht...

If you can stand hot food, the hottest shite you could ever eat is there...

Papaya salad...will melt Styrofoam

Had 1 bite, worse than da bomb sauce...these locals eat it casually...

I saw two americans throw down in an eat off and they were sick 2 days, their bodies couldn't cope with the heat

Phuket is a ways away, Pattaya is not as pretty, but it has less tourists, more expats and locals, and way kinkier stuff going on

I will check it out, I would like to see the topography of Phuket though so I am keeping that in play.

If you want to see gorgeous landscapes and awesome beaches, Krabi has Phuket beat imo.

Pic from Krabi area last year...

Wow, I am also going there for my honeymoon this month and was just about to post this.
We are staying in Bangkok for 4 days and Phuket for 3 days.

We plan on doing the water market, temples, cooking class, the general huge outside markets, elephant rides, tons of massages, snorkeling, some boat riding, island hopping, etc. We are super excited but would love to hear any recommendations.

Have a close friend that is Thai. Her mom cooked me a traditional Thai meal one time using some little peppers she grew in her backyard. It was so hot it messed up my taste buds for days. I don't see how they do it.
