Is there any western food available?
I was staying at nice places that had great western food if needed so it wasn't a problem. The great thing about Bangkok hotels is you can get luxury accommodations for $100 or less fairly easily.
Furthermore, we ate a fair amount of street food in Bangkok and I didn't find it to be too crazy, not to mention they can tone it down.
India had incredibly spicy food so I had an idea what to expect.
As for the prostitutes, well I did not get propositioned but we did take a walk to Soi Cowboy.
Let's just say you have a buffet of options.

Any food you would recommend trying?
Traditions Thai and Indian will burn you up!
My co-worker told me about this, you go in sit down have a drink and pick your type.

I think the best thing I had was some water buffalo dish we made in a cooking class on Ko Yao Noi. The water buffalo was from the island, so not sure what that dish is in Bangkok. We got a cookbook from the class so if there's a name for it I'll pass it along.
Really you can just walk down the road and try stuff. Chatuchak market had a good bit of food places and I just went to the one packed with Thai people. If you don't research a specific place, that's a safe strategy.

Thanks will do, right now my last 3 days will be free in Bangkok and I will use them to "go local" as best as I can.
