Off topic but I’m heading to Japan in two weeks. Well aware of notable shops to check out but know you’ve picked up some heavy hitters in your time. Any recs or places to stay away from? I’m looking for a 168000 which is rather tough in general given the short run but interested in something vintage if I can’t find it.

Kind of want one to use as a true beater and for the novelty.

Its handled the general rigors of summer thus far, runs about 15+ sec/day though. Took a flyer on it and would definitely get another at some point.

I'm gonna try to keep this thread afloat:
IWC Fliegeruhr UTC from the good folks in Schaffhausen one of my collection that is 20+ years in my possession. Great size for a strap watch and supremely legible.

Beaucroft Seeker in Mint Gold.
Stock image from their website. Any photos I have taken of it, doesn't do it justice.

Thoughts on the Muhle Glashutte SAR Rescue TImer? Insanely overengineered and decently priced

Also has a version with a fully lumed dial

Where in Japan? Tokyo is one of the best watch shopping and browsing places in the world.

TAG Heuer Monaco Gulf ’Vintage’ CW2118 with the modular Cal. 11. The first Gulf SE released for Steve McQueen's 75 B-day and used the colors off his racing suit in Lemans.

Kind of an odd one for today

Is that the Defy 21 Land Rover? I have never seen one in the wild and this may be the first one I have seen that someone owned. Very cool.

Yep. I didn't really care about the Land Rover affiliation, but really liked the color and movement combo. It's a shame they put that silly spoke over the movement.

I don't mind affiliated watches as long as they don't put any co-branding on the dial. You often get very cool colorways. I do hate novelty rotors that obscure the movement heavily and REALLY hate when they put printing on the display back glass it looks so cheap to me, it is even worse when watch companies print on the front crystal which is generally found on open-worked (skeletonized) watches which I already have a distaste for.

Left-handed people are often strange. The Dents gloves just puts it over the top.

Omega Seamaster 300M sighting

Seeing if I can keep this alive with this now discontinued three hand sweeper - 39 mm OP in the white dial version. The forgotten size in the OP and a short production life 2015-2020. If you ask me the 36 mm version of this watch is about perfect (I would probably change the double baton markers at 3 and 9, but little else), and the 41 mm version looks bloated, but who would argue that Rolex know what they are doing?
This one is powered by the venerable 3132 movement which has since been supplanted by the more robust 3230 with its longer power reserve 70h v 48h, superior anti-magnetism and shock resistance. This watch never has lacked for accuracy and has performed at + a few seconds a week (yes, I'm neurotic about the accuracy of my mechanical watches and understand the limitations therein!)
Happy weekend to everyone and only 6 weeks away from football season!
Cheers
