Even worse, he probably wasn't even considering this career until he got arrested, and then some Christians offered this to him as a way of "redemption."

I do not believe in that behavior ever being corrected out of an individual.

I do not choose to be attracted to women. I am and will always be that way.

Someone who is attracted to minors does not choose that path. That path is imprinted in the brain as desirable. No amount of punishment or counseling changes the type of person that someone is attracted to.

Anyone who believes differently puts minors at risk every day. And it only takes one bad day for the minor to have that scar forever.

If this had happened 26 years ago versus 16, he would have been 20 and had a quarter century of atonement. I’d at least consider it.

30 yo? Nope, find something else to do with your life that doesn’t involve children. That door should be closed forever.

If he’s coaching boys, tell me what the risk is? I could understand maybe not wanting your teenage daughter to get softball instruction from a guy that was busted for soliciting teenage girls, but it’s a boys team.

Deviant behavior is the risk.

Can you honestly say that Texas does not have anyone else capable of coaching a boys baseball team?
It is him... or disband the team?

Actually, the article does say that he previously coached the Haskell High softball team.

Context matters sometimes so I would want to know more. If they knowingly did anything with a minor then absolutely not

He got busted talking to a cop online pretending to be teenage girl. If you watched dateline from 20 years ago, doing this was popular back then and over half the cases werent prosecutable bc it was deemed entrapment

the context is that he was a grown man with a wife and newborn and was trying to solicit an underage girl online, but it was a sting

do I think he is a danger to a boys baseball team? No

would I want a person with that past and moral judgement around my kids? also no

Sex offenders of any sort should not be coaching youth baseball teams, and him coaching a softball team is even worse. Honestly, even his domestic violence convictions from the late 1990s should probably be disqualifying from those jobs.

The religious way his bio is written is kind of cringe. I’m catholic and all for redemption.. but it sounds like he was dealing with a porn addiction or compulsive problem with it.. being on chat cams and stuff.

That’s is a brain issue, not a moral one. Alot of men who deal with compulsive porn/sex behaviors don’t know how to separate faith and brain science to start the healing process. He can confess and be “saved” all he wants, but if he doesn’t put in the work to rewire his neural pathways, he will keep having the same thoughts and be back seeking salvation from his faith.

He should probably get that under control before he continues on as a religious coach/teacher of minors.

Goes to show you the value of a good defense attorney. If he could’ve gotten the charge pled down and stayed off the sex offender list..sixteen years, he’d probably have the charge expunged by now and long since moved on with his life

exact circumstances that forced the owner of Gateway church to step down as pastor, except he actually molested the girl

What true travel ball parent would want this guy to coach their kid? Forget the sex offenders stuff! The guy made it to AAA but still wasn’t good enough to make it to the show. What a loser!

The job is at a school…with teenage girls in it.

30 year old dude soliciting sex from a teen, even if unsuccessfully, isn’t enough context for you?
