That’s a sad way of looking at it. Think of controlling your taxes by living to how you want to be taxed.

That’s due to school bonds and greedy tax assessors I’d wager. Our county hired a new one this year and he went apeshit increasing property values and the tax assessors office will be tied up for years because of it.

Property tax reform passed just a week ago. That said, Mr. Bachelor is paying his dues like everyone here without state tax. He can move out if he doesn't agree. Not a big deal.

Texas being better is a fact jack little debate is needed to prove this

Sounds like he bought a house in Frisco, TX, not Dallas proper.
His 12k a year in taxes is funding Jaxson’s QB camps and multimillion dollar HS stadium. Doubt that he bought a single family house in Dallas proper (the good neighborhoods) for 350k.

Uh no state income tax and you don’t have to pay out the arse for private school if you live in the burbs.
You don't have to do this in almost any area. It's why there are burbs. I'm not trying to start a debate on burbs vs burbs schools but that's essentially why people move to the suburbs.

I’m know there are some. My FiL is a rancher and he keeps every receipt of anything involving the farm to claim as deductions.
but then again, I view people who find ways of avoiding taxes as patriotic heroes.

I just get one of those companies to argue that stuff for their 1/3. I don't have time for that.

I pay about $12k in property taxes a year. My house is also worth about $150k more than I paid for it 4 years ago in Southlake. So still a win for me

Have to admit if you are single their is little benefit to owning ur own property with Homeowners taxes the way they are
Yeah because when you rent you don’t pay any prop taxes. The landlord just eats it.

The tax appraisal is spot on based on comps though so it's tough to argue. Ive always done my own appeal but hired a tax consultant this year since the money we are talking about is getting up there.

So he basically paying almost $12,000 in taxes. So your mortgage isn’t $1500 but $2500 a month.
It varies depending on the county. I pay the same in property tax but my house value is over twice that. It pays to move to the right county. That's why Houston workers try to live in Ft Bend, Waller or Montgomery County rather than Harris.
I don't like the fact I pay 12 grand a year in property taxes but ok, I have to pay taxes. I live in Smith County outside Tyler.

The Messicans build this system and state. Without them, we're Louisiana.

I’ve seen more of that as counties have gone nuts.
I live in a historic downtown district in a fair to meddling house that we’ve fixed up. I live a block away from 100 year old pristine Plantation style houses and a block away from crack dealers. My taxes have remained WAAAAAY lower than my friends that moved to the burbs.

Some places have a loophole that basically freezes your property tax if you buy a historic house. Renovations are a pain in the arse though.

That new HS reno is one of the last bonds approved. Every bond for the last 20 some odd years was for elementary and junior highs.

I don’t keep up with their bond spending. I probably should. TISD is a customer of mine.
It’s a great town. I really like San Angelo, Tyler, and Abilene. Small cities with a good bit of charm and “small town” vibe.
