I know this maybe a corny joke, but does Abbott have standing.

6 in west Texas that I know of. Totaling about about 5000GWh a year.
Et. All on private land. All denied by the Trump admin after interconnection had been approved. The developers sunk millions into these only to get the rug yanked out from under them and no one gave a frick.

According to the DOI, Trump was selling leases at fire sale prices.
Which was necessary, in my opinion, because no one wanted to drill if the price of oil stayed low. So the supply of leases, was high and the demand was low so the price was low.
Now it looks like they want to drive up the lease prices with the moratorium and have fewer leases available to ratchet up the lease prices.
The same DOI release stated that only a small percentage of leases offered were actually purchased.
quote:
The Trump administration conducted a fire sale of public lands and waters, offering more than 25 million acres onshore during the past four years, 5.6 million of which were purchased. Offshore, more than 78 million acres were offered for lease to oil, gas, and mineral development offshore, and only 5 million acres were purchased.
Full Release
While I don’t agree with the moratorium, some of this may actually make sense if it was not clouded up by the drive to end fossil fuels.

Yeah that’s kind of how things work in leasing. Not all land is prospective. Companies spend tens of millions every year to buy federal leases and sometimes never drill a single well on those leases. It’s been that way since the 70s. Not sure what point you were trying to prove?

Wasn’t the executive order for Federal Lands? Not sure the governor outranks the president here.
When Texas secedes they’ll become federal lands of the Republic of Texas

Probably just let University Lands run it.

The states were designed this way. The fed gov't has been over reaching for decades.
The fed was designed to protect the states, not dictate to the states.

All Executive Orders should be considered illegal. They certainly shouldn't be used to legislate.

Meanwhile, Honor Choade helps his state agencies and his GumboPac buddies sue our oil and gas companies. Biden should have hired him to bring his skills at putting industry out of business to DC.

Does this have standing in the court if not that leaves Abbott without a leg to stand on

My whole thing about this is how the federal EO doesn’t invade the province of the legislature as the lawmaking body. Seems like it is primarily a separation of powers issue and then a federalism issue.

He probably wouldn't even win an attempt to be governor of Texas again. No way he gets the Republican nomination.

My god I’ve always liked Texas but now I’m falling in love with it. Maybe time for a move.

RIck Perry did the same shite ten years ago
Eveything the White House declares, Texas deems unconstitutional.
Can’t let them have shite. Meanwhile the California exodus is out of control and the homeless problem is worse
At least we aren’t Georgia

Must be nice to have a conservative governor with balls and not some closet socialist pussy.
