I'm an engineer. Not an idiot.

I can tell that thing is not a bomb.

It's better to be safe than sorry.

Regardless of race, any kid bringing anything resembling a bomb to school without any permission should be checked out and questioned. I don't agree with the handcuffs though.. but this kid is now receiving so much good and blessings in his life. He is getting all sorts of scientist invites and whatnot.

Everyone is safe, and he has a brighter future now because of the situation.

I mentioned an Arduino, but it's all the same in the end. The only thing this boy did wrong was packaging. Apparently, good wiring and cable management is the difference between felony bomb hoax charges and being recognized as an impressive young person.

I can't accept any of the nonsense you just said after this completely despicable waste of bandwidth you posted earlier in this thread.

You would rather get on your pedestal and spew your ignorance than take the time to realize how much you've dehumanized this child to the point of him only existing as some terrorist GI Joe character. You mention his father running for president without mention that we was running against what is pretty much a dictator while standing up against terrorism and for women's rights. Immigrants and the ability for those people who use the right channels to come here to do great things to make this country a better place is what made this country great.

A man fighting terrorism and for women's rights in the face of a cruel dictator in a fake democracy is a good asset to our country. A child who uses his free time to learn about circuits and how to build things with dreams of becoming an engineer is a good asset to our country. An ignorant piece of shite who laments the white man's struggle and makes ignorant comments about children is a detriment to this country.

They are not the problem. "Tolerance" and "Political Correctness" are not the problem. Stupidity and ignorance are the problem. People think their shitty opinions and beliefs are the only ones that matter, and that applies to every race, religion, and creed. When you justify potentially charging a 14 year old with a felony for being curious and intelligent enough to build digital clock because it looks like every single cheaply made electronic device and he's Muslim, you're invalidating everything about him as a human being and just projecting your shitty views onto him as a way to express them. That's what's wrong with this country. Too many people are worried about people disagreeing with them instead of listening to what they have to say, and any difference in religion, race, or even sports team is enough to make someone an enemy and valueless to too many people here.

I refuse to acknowledge that someone loves America who supports ridiculous nonsense like this. Even when the kid is completely cleared of everything, people are still all on board to trash him and say hateful shite. That's not what America's about at all.

Ah, yes, my view that America is a place where people who work hard and contribute to society in a positive way should be free of stereotyping and ignorance is a very "dystopian" outlook. A society where people are judged on a personal level by their merits seems like a society that's plummeted into darkness and degradation. Very dystopian, indeed.

Listen, I'm pretty tired, and I typed that relatively quickly out of frustration so I'm aware that the arrangement probably isn't that great. Maybe I don't use as many ellipsis as you'd like (because you clearly love them) or maybe I didn't double space in between every sentence as you do to make it more readable for you. I'm not above writing something that isn't somewhat shitty, by any means. It doesn't suddenly invalidate my point, though.

Claiming to be a flag-waving, freedom loving American while defending the handling of this incident, one based clearly on race and religion, and spewing the same ridiculous ideals and hate is the most contradictory thing you could possible do.

Boston Marathon bombers. Muslims have a history of strapping bombs to themselves or putting them in book bags all for the name of religion.

In my limited and anecdotal experience, some police are frequently more interested in seeing if they can get any charge to stick than they are interested in seeing justice being served. It's also pretty distasteful, but they will also use threats of charging big crimes against even minors as a standard way to get to the bottom of things, even when it is unnecessary. It's a bad method regardless because it creates false positives, but again from my personal experience some are more interested in getting any arrest than the right arrest.
