Is a reason Texas football will never be worth a shite anymore. People who go there are all in on this I hate everything about our country mindset. It doesn't matter who they hire to coach or who they recruit, they will never return to the glory days. Should be in the PAC 12.

frick, I will volunteer to learn and play the song on an instrument of their choice for free! There is nothing racist about the song.

Texas football is shite since all of the good recruits leave for other programs in the SEC and Big Ten or Oklahoma. Austin is an absolutely beautiful area but it is being wrecked by the overall leadership in the area which includes the University.

The racist connection is one of the biggest stretches Ive heard. But also if their football team and their band don't want it played, I see no point in trying to force them to play it. It's a lose/lose at that point

It should be so simple. Don’t want to play the song? Quit the band. Song offends you? Don’t attend the game. School is racist? Don’t accept their scholarship offer. Somebody else would love to have it.

I get the what you’re saying but I think the point is to not throw away a decades old tradition that your alumni base cares about. The same kids pushing for it to stop might not even feel the same way a few years from now. We can’t cancel everything because of the whims of teenagers.

That's the thing, they want to change it to fit their current worldview. Song is "racist," we'll change it to be more inclusive. School is racist, we'll gut it and change it to something more "modern." Will we preserve anything historical if there is even the slightest hint of not meeting current criteria of acceptance?

They should revoke the scholarships of this members immediately.
Recruit new band members with full scholarships with the understanding they will play it.
