I don’t see a jury letting this dude off via “stand your ground”. You’re a 27 yo and go to a high school party and are creepy with some of the girls. An arse kicking is what he deserved and he came looking for a fight, hence the gun.

What if there is past history between this group of people? What if this wasn't the first time they'd hung out in the same place together?

His arrest photo doesn't look like he took much of a beating.

So they pinned him down, landed repeated haymakers on his head, and a larger crowd gathered around them to join in.

We can all agree that Whitehead is a piece of shite who deserved his arse getting beat. But I’m really thinking he will at most get a negligent homicide charge. If that. If I were in his position and was getting jumped like that, with that many people joining in, I’m using a firearm to save my own life.

But legally, I'm curious where this goes. Alabama has a stand your ground law.

Won’t really matter considering he killed the girl, who wasn’t the one jumping him. He’s cooked and I hope genpop is hell for him. He should get the CP treatment

So he's a sleazeball who hits on underaged girls. A group of boys send out texts saying they're going to take care of him. They jump him. He pulls out a weapon and opens fire.

I feel like this is a FAFO moment for him and he should catch a murder charge for bringing a gun to a fist fight.

Why didn’t the boyfriend go back to the party and whip this dudes arse one on one, instead of asking a bunch of friends to do it for him?

Could he have been far enough away that he couldn’t get there so his friends handled it?

Could he have been in his way back but asked his friends to watch his GF in the mean time and this happens?

Wow. That would be a very unpopular move for an elected DA. I hope he isn’t counting on winning reelection. I don’t see a jury letting this dude off via “stand your ground”. Sometimes the law protects scumbag pieces of shite inadvertently. It’s the thing that sucks most about the law but is also its greatest attribute, it must be applied evenly to everyone.

I hope like hell that they have evidence of an actual crime by him and not just circumstantial scumbag-ness. He sounds like a real POS

This is getting much trickier. She had actually stuck him too?
Let the jury figure this one out.

Is that an older pic on the previous page? Because he doesn't look like someone who took repeated haymakers.

Part of the problem is all of the conjecture surrounding the case. She’s a pretty girl who apparently was well loved by her community. The initial reports made it sound like someone pulled a gun to commit a mass shooting and innocent people were hurt and killed.

But now we’re getting evidence that the people shot actually initiated the physical altercation. Once that story broke, people said Kimber was trying to break up the fight.

I haven’t seen the full video, but now there are comments out there saying that in the video, you can see Kimber kicking the guy. From the video I’ve seen, you’ve got a guy pinning Whitehead down with his legs and connecting multiple headshots while a group of others join in. It doesn’t look at all like anyone is trying to break up the fight.

If they can get a clear view of Kimber doing anything at all physically to Whitehead, he’ll be let off.

No matter the outcome, this entire story is a portrayal of the direction our shite culture is going. These kinds of videos are all over X. People getting jumped by multiple assailants. Dudes spiking drinks. Shooting people. Good people dying.

If you’re a parent, do all you can to prevent your kids from going to places like “the pit” where they can drink and party with 20+ year olds. Because no matter how beautiful or sweet Kimber was, she was there participating in some low class behavior with the rest of them.

Edit - clearer video where you can see Kimber part of the initial attack on the guy:

I am 99% sure you can't claim self defense if you have been drinking. This guy will be charged and sent to prison.

Stand your ground in Alabama requires that you are not involved in illegal activity and are legally allowed to be where you are. Giving minors alcohol is certainly illegal and I’m assuming they were trespassing so he doesn’t meet two of three requirements to use that defense.
I think he’s fricked.

It's not a stand your ground case because from the video he is clearly attempting leave. Stand your ground laws provide a self defense option without any duty to retreat. He attempts to retreat though, so it falls under normal self defense precedent.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but per self defense law he is clearly justified to use deadly force in the situation based on the video. I don't know whether he's a shithead or not and I don't really care. I don't know anybody involved in this fiasco. This will sound harsh and I'm sorry for that, but the parents of the assailants should have raised their kids better.

27 year old hanging out with high schoolers and packing?

He probably used the same brains to decide to pack at a highshool game as he used to decide to try and bang highschool girls.

I'm thinking there is a whole lot more to the story than a random 27 year old who has never hung out with a group of people showing up at a random party in the woods hitting on girls he had no prior interaction with. I also think there may be more to the boyfriend leaving the party early without the girl. Maybe an argument, who knows?

I hope you’re just playing devils advocate because this is nonsense. He killed a bystander, an innocent girl. He’s going to prison.
