It is going to be interesting how this turns out. I mentioned in the PT thread that I have family who knew the girl well. It was a terrible situation that never should have happened.

The thing is that if those boys escalated the physical altercation after the shooter walked away and he ultimately defended himself......in the state of Alabama those boys can be charged with murder because their actions lead to the death of the girl.

Apparently mixed ages (from 16-22 with a 27 year old). The story has been that he was hitting on the high school aged girls.

Well, you can’t use deadly force if you start or provoke someone to assault you. I guess it will depend on if his making advances on the 18 year old girl was criminal. You can’t legally jump a guy because he was talking to your girlfriend. From the video I saw, they admit to jumping him pretty bad. All on the word of another young girl and the deceased may have been trying to stop them.

Wow. That would be a very unpopular move for an elected DA. I hope he isn’t counting on winning reelection.

I don’t see a jury letting this dude off via “stand your ground”. You’re a 27 yo and go to a high school party and are creepy with some of the girls. An arse kicking is what he deserved and he came looking for a fight, hence the gun.

since when is 18yo underage?

When a 27yo is providing alcohol. 18 is underage to drink in Alabama. Now, I have no idea what the outcome of this will be. I do know this guy is a piece of shite. Need to know what happened before he “was walking away”. I can’t assault you, turn and “walk away” then expect to claim self defense.

Guess what, dummy...

Even if you act in self-defense, if you kill an innocent (i.e., not the person you are defending yourself against with your firearm), that's homicide.

Probably not first degree, but your arse is gonna do serious time.

What if he was being jumped by so many people, he couldn’t tell that the girl who was physically joining in on the fight to break it up wasn’t a threat?

Best he can get is manslaughter or negligent homicide.

He's gonna do time.

Why is a 27-year-old hanging out with high school kids?

This story is wild. In what world does the boyfriend think he's setting into motion the eventual murder of his girlfriend?

Was she the only person shot? None of the people beating up on him were hit?

They interviewed one guy who was hit 10 times.. He seemed pretty proud of going after the 27 year old. He said he picked him up and slammed him over his shoulder. I think he said his other friend was already punching the guy. He said someone pulled him off the guy and the guy then opened fire.

Oh damn, so this clown just mag dumped into a crowd. After trying to possibly drug a girl. While intoxicated, most likely.

This guy isn't getting off here.

Because he gets older and they stay the same age.

Both he, the boyfriend, the other friend, and the 27 year old bear some responsibility. This whole story sounds like hoodrat shite. 27 year old hitting on a 18 year old at a high school party. Boyfriend needs help to beat up the offender instead of one on one. The guys are taking the opportunity to really beat his arse instead of just a punch or two. And innocents get injured or dead from young Jeff Foxworthy.

The part that makes me question the narrative is the guys who attacked him didn’t witness anything. They heard the guy was trying to drug her (because he offered her an open beer). And they just went ham on the guy. They didn’t stop to ask Kimber what happened. They didn’t tell him to gtfo, they gang attacked without a single question. The guy who slammed him was shot 10 times so not exactly shooting wild. And the video apparently shows Kimber trying to stop the fight.

There will be lots of video. A lawyer watched the one video and said he saw lots of phones up.

16-22 doesn’t sound like a high school party to me.
