I got to drive a Tesla Model S for a few hours. Friend married a Tesla engineer and needed my truck to move.
Never had more fun driving a vehicle.
It does 0-60 in about 3 seconds I think. That reason alone makes Tesla’s amazing to me.

At a super charging station you can go from virtually 0 to 100% in about 45 minutes. I'd say the avg charge if you're out and about is 15-20 minutes
This is the part that made me think it wouldn’t be good for a road trip.

next. It plans the drive perfectly to be as efficient as possible and charge as little as possible with most charges stopping well before 100% so you can still get blazing speeds but also still have another battery to get to the next one. So on that DFW to New Orleans, which is 10 hours, it would take 4 stops for a total of 51 minutes charging and cost $13.

I may drive one someday but I'm definitely not an early adopter type when it comes to 50k purchases

Big gas tank? Mine might get 400 on the highway. 2.7 V6

I'd just point out there are charts and graphs out there that show after you factor in your tax credit, gas, regular maintenance, and resale value(essentially total cost of ownership) over 5 years, a $50k Tesla will cost around the same as probably a $30-35k regular car. Don't quote me on the exact numbers as I haven't seen those graphs in a while but you get the idea.

I was still afraid to buy an ecoboost two years ago

Not sure where I got that from.
8 hours ish normal trip. Right at 9 hours in a Tesla using the super charging network.

The first Gen seemed to have some kinks, particularly with the timing chains. My 2017 is probably too young to pass judgment. The performance is pretty impressive though. It's absolutely peppy and fun to drive

Yeah well, when I have to move my two Sherman tanks, I’ll call my friend with the Tesla truck and not your wimpy ecoboost

You’d probably easily burn my 5.7 Tundra in a race, which is a fact that bothers me. Not that I’m racing or anything. But still.

I had a 5.7 hemi before this and the eco seems quicker. Not sure if that's accurate or just in my mind. This truck is a good bit lighter too. No complaints though after 2 years.

Yeah, I have a 36(or 32 can’t remember) gallon tank on my 150. My range is around 540 miles.

They have a long way to go before any purely electric car is viable. If only it could re-charge on it's own.

But can it pull the space shuttle?
Posted on 6/9/19 at 8:09 am to agregime1
I would take a AMC Gremlin over that disgrace of a truck
