Hours of being submerged after being hit with 150 MPH winds and there was no penetration is impressive no matter how you slice it.
The gas in a sealed gas can or tank would also be good to go

The estimate to put a Tesla Solar Shingle on my house was roughly 50% the cost of the house.
The o&g boys are safe for a while.

The impressive part is the battery, gateway, and inverter, basically the control system for an off-grid capable power plant, went underwater and fired right back up.

The cost is definitely significant. I walked intl a Tesla store after Ida to see if they would have warrantied that storm and it would not have been. The kid was trying the hard sell so I told him to throw in the contract that it would be warranties for 175mph and you have a deal. I did not buy the tesla roof that day

If it’s not affordable for The average consumer, who cares? I give the contraption full credit for
It’s durability. But it’s a moot point if it’s unaffordable.

Because first adopters pay a higher price to support development of emerging technology. That leads to innovation and competition that's brings prices down.
Also, the real novelty is the solar roof. This same setup with normal solar panels is a fraction of the price and would perform the same just not be as aesthetically pleasing.

What is the originating cost of said roof and powerwall?

The PW is a fricking beast. I was there when one of the big IE firms did the fire and flood testing on them and we were shooting nail guns at them point blank, did a week + submersion and everything else we could think of.
That sounds like a bad arse and fun job.

Roof really depends on house size, solar resource factor and consumption needs.
PW is $10000 for the first and $6500 for every extra one up to 10.

It was a lot of fun. I've gotten to do some cool shite on investors dimes to test out new tech.

Yeah I want to say the estimate for my house was about 100K and that didn't include the recommended 3 power walls

Interesting
Had an estimate done in 2019 (Arizona) where the tesla roof was about double the price of the regular.
It allegedly paid back pretty decent. Only reason I didn't pull the trigger was all of the paperwork and potentially scaring off a future buyer leery of the technology

Unfortunately not available in most Louisiana zip codes, if not all of them.

Probably aren't any authorized installers. And I don't think any of the Tesla financers (at least none I've worked with) will take any La assets.

So basically nothing will destruct these, so when we start having to put them in landfills too, they will be there forever.
Good to know.

I wonder if thats because louisiana wont let tesla sell direct to customers.
