I'm okay with it as it makes it more likely I'll be able to honour my deposit and actually make the purchase if it rolls into mid to late 2022.

I’m still unsure of how Tesla actually makes money. It’s stock position is inexplicable.
They're much more than a car company. There's an entire home energy component that everyone forgets about. They're viewed as a distributed energy company not a vehicle manufacturer.

Tesla needs to sell out their car division and just stick with batteries.

Tesla Cybertruck delayed again
They were turning the corner a bit with the Model Y and Shanghai factory coming in on time, but back to the usual delays with the Cybertruck.
It remains to be seen when production will actually start, but so far, it's a pretty small delay, nothing really to freak out about.

Any context here? What's the cumulative profits of those revenue streams?

It should all be publicly filed in their earnings report, anything I have I can't release. There are multiple income streams from home energy: sales and leases of equipment, renewable energy credits, sale of investment tax credit, etc. This is also a space where investors are pouring money in because its generation at the load. They're getting closer with solar tiles, their home batteries are one of the best on the market, and the control and conditioning tech is industry leading.

Oh okay, so you're including their only source of profit with the rest of it. Nevermind

Recs are profitable, ITC sales really aren't. They're just used to get cheap capital.
I also never said they were profitable. Investors might turn on them one day, but for now they're happy to pump money in to keep the innovation going and a lot of that has to do with the distributed generation side. But one day those same investors will hold their feet to the fire and make them be profitable, just like they're doing to shale companies rights now.

I really don’t want an electric car.
I agree and don't personally think that an EV would work for me in the near term. I use my truck for work, travel quite a bit, and often tow a trailer. However, my wife barely gets outside of a 12 mile radius of our house. I could see us having one of each soon

Well is the new fricking Tundra ever going to come out at least?? Been waiting for that for ten years now.

really don’t want an electric car. I feel like we finally got gas cars down to be insanely reliable and pretty efficient since the turn of the century.
I think hybrid is a pretty great compromise. Ford Powerboost gets 24mpg with like 500hp.

Let me run to Lowe’s and load up my cyber truck with plywood. Then stop by the house to charge my truck for an hour before I can drive to the camp and build the deer stand.
Don't worry. There will soon be charging stations everywhere and you can watch netflix while you wait the hour and half to charge.

Fords will beat it. The hybrid is already basically an EV.
