Everything you listed is technically terrorism but can also fall under spree killings because the acts weren't committed over an ideology. Now some wing nut blowing up an abortion clinic is terrorism in my book.
FWIW I don't think 3/4 incidents would be defined as terrorism by any subject matter expert.

Shouldnt a terrorist attack label be reserved for something of a larger magnitude?

Pretty much exactly what we all knew he'd look like if we're just being honest with ourselves.

You're right. I am more concerned with mass violence rather than the motivation behind the mass violence. The classification of the act after the fact doesn't concern me if I am a victim.
Not me. People committing violence in the name of religion are impossible to negotiate with. They want to die most of the time.

That's fine. But it's hard to guard against random crazies doing random, crazy things. People typically just internalize that risk and get on with it.
Ideological inspired terrorism probably scares more people, and is probably more easily addressed directly. Maybe that shouldn't be the case, but it is.

Catching a round from some dumbass baw in a laffy movie theater would fricking suck. I would rather get shot in a terrorist attack, at least I could get a high school named after me or something

I'm guessing you've not grasped the "magnatude" of this attack. This guy ran down like 10 people in his car then jumped out and started stabbing a police officer.

Why take the risk. Letting 1 terrorist in is 1 too many.

I agree. I was trying to be diplomatic since this is the OT and not the PB

Does motivation not matter?
Better get rid of hate crime laws then.

I think terrorism can involve attempted injury to one person. But there has to be a political, religious, or ideological motive that is intended to impact more than just the perpetrator and victim.

If ideology driven then a single act of violence is terrorism.

I mean it just shut down Parliment, forced a controlled evacuation, and killed people. No big deal, right?

That's a little on the nose.

Holy shite.
I wonder who's done this.
Prayers go out to our British Friends.

Well by definition "terrorist" classify themselves based on some identifying factor so our TV driven culture makes it easy to target those specific groups. It also allows political opportunist to create boogie men (it's not like these groups don't deserve to be called out), and sidestep issues that are just as important but not as tangible (e.g. Mental health)
But I digress... the point I was making was that if you hear of a mass shooting happening in America then you are just as likely to find out a white dude did it as you are to find out a Muslim did it.

Rigorous screening has worked. The domestic attacks have come from within. I personally think it's a bit fricked for us to essentially create this mess and then turn away innocent people who are trying to escape the mess we created. There's a reason ISIS has turned to Europe to directly attack, and used an online presence to radicalize Muslims in the US. It isn't very efficient for them to try and send a terrorist over here if it's going to take a year or 2. He could be blowing shite up by this time next week in Paris or London.
What we have been doing is working.
What we have been doing is working.

Sounds like a disgruntled muslim, not a coordinated and timely attack.

Your condescension is ruining an otherwise great back and forth and exemplifies why the poli board is a cesspool
