Our 23 month old son never throws a tantrum. Seriously absolutely never. He is tall and likes to get into things like climbing on kitchen counter standing on chairs to climb on cabinets and such. But attitude wise this kid is amazing.
Now our almost 5 year old daughter is a whole other animal. Assitude

I think one of the issues is she spends the most time with him in the evenings. Both she and I work and I drop him off at daycare in the mornings and don't come home till 7:00-8:00.
So every day during the week you are not home for 12+ hours? Getting home at 7-8PM every weekday leaves your wife dealing with a lot when she gets home.
When kids throw their fits, ignoring them doesn't work? I do this to my nephew and friends kids. It might be different for parents, but when they throw a fit, I laugh at them and just ignore them.. When I laugh at them they try to hind the fact they are laughing and then realize I am not giving them attention for acting up.

Patience, grasshopper.
Tantrums are annoying but they're not that important in the greater scheme of things. Kids will figure out they can't win.

We just suspended our life for about two years.
People will say they have an answer, they don't, their kids were just little shits that pissed everyone else off.
One word of advice, limit electronics. Let them figure out something else to appease themselves.

It will end when you decide to make it end. Don't be a snowflake and start disciplining your child. Yes, I have raised 3, and no, we didn't put up with that crap.

Lasted only about 4 months for us.

but I think sometimes you have to give in and try to have a conversation with the kid, no matter how futile.
You tell that little fricker how it is and that's how it is. To do otherwise, that little fricker will grow up to question authority- teachers, cops, etc.

It's the terrorist 3's you have to look out for. All 3 of my kids were good till they hit 3.

My 3 year old just lost his mind because Alexa wouldn't play the song that he just made up.

I'm lucky - Mrs. Sheep (no pics) is just as much of a hard arse as I am.

When will these terrible twos end
When he starts school, so about 5. Ages 5-12 are when they are at their most tolerable. Once they hit junior high and discover that you've been feeding them bullshite for years, the a-hole really comes out. High school is a challenge also. He will probably return to normal around 24-25.
As for your wife, make sure you're pulling 50% of the weight at home. It doesn't matter that you work longer hours, because it's still easier than dealing with a two year old.
Also, PIIHB.

I feel for you brother. I would read over the replies to your second post and heed their advice.
You and your wife will be fine but you should definitely tow her line. At least until you're around a lot more.
Thanks. There is some good advice in this thread. I think my wife and I need to start communicating better. That would be a good place to start.

Here is the good news, somebody, one of you at least, has his attention as he is pushing back/exerting his will....is how we learn and grow
Enjoy the ride and the parents better get on the same page, FAST, as the challenges only increase
P.S. be wise and pick your battles
