I agree. Makes an already overwhelmingly tragic situation worse if that's possible. I'm curious.

No doubt this gentleman found out something that his mind could not analyze and store away to ponder the proper course of action.

He tripped and lost his mind lomg enough to do the unthinkable. As another poster mentioned, he at least had the clarity to think of his daughter, or maybe he just forgot all about her in his rage.

Either way he is a bitch.

The caller was a daughter. Apparently, the wife who was killed stayed in the bedroom with the daughters (and) didn't stay in the same bedroom as the husband," Sheriff Bryan Bailey said. "The daughter said she heard the door open to the bedroom. She looked up, saw her father had a gun, asked her father not to do it, 'Go put the gun up,' (she said). He raised the gun up, fired a shot from a 45-caliber pistol, striking the wife in the neck. He then left the room, went to another room, and the daughter heard another gunshot."

Sheriff said it was due to Husband’s mental illness. No idea what he was experiencing.

So it ends up that I work with the wife of the female victims first cousin.

She told me that she had several times called the cops for help and their response was basically what do you want us to do. Then HE called the cops himself the night before this happened at 8/9 pm and was asking for help. They went over and saw that no one was "after him" with a gun That he "saw" and they left as there wasn't anyone with a gun there after him. The guy was worried about himself --- WHY with that and her history of asking for help would they not recognize the need to PEC him???

Wife had been sleeping in the room with one of the daughters for a while --- they'd built a beautiful home on what I assume is her property and she was so said worried about losing it were she to leave him Was also told the girls plan to stay there. Heard a few other gory details --- she did get to tell them "I love you" before she died.

Both girls are his and they did as far as I'm told decide to attend his funeral today and of course hers tomorrow.

I don't get that level of despair that would drive someone to this.

Wow. That's awful! I wonder if the wife was home when he called the police about someone after him with a gun? That's probably why the sheriff or whoever mentioned mental illness in the presser online. They knew about his problems already. Geez, sound like someone could have done something before this happened. I wonder if the wife thought about having him committed? I'm not saying that to blame her. I'm just curious. Sounds like problems certainly existed if she was sleeping with a child (not a young one) in her own bedroom. I guess the door wasn't locked, though, so she must not have thought it would come to something like this.

It's probably healthy that they did especially since it appears he had mental conditions which contributed to his actions. I don't know how you get over this sort of thing enough to be able to live with it.

I don't know if the wife was home when he called police or not .. BUT if someone calls the police because they're worried about themself, guess what? Someone needs to do something. I'm in no way the suing type but geeze -- she asked for help. He asked for help. What's wrong with this picture?

The girl that I work with said something about well she could have left but it boiled down to being concerned about the property -- she also said that they had JUST been here visiting last weekend (the wife and 2 girls) and had a GREAT time together. Wife was sleeping in the other room with the daughter as she (wife) was scared of him. Wife made it downstairs to the sofa -- dtr is a nursing student and was trying to get pressure to the neck but the mom kept moving and wouldn't sit still.

Sad situation all around. I can't believe the girls would want to stay there -- I know it's home but oh man.

eta: friend said that the girls have a fantastic support system on the moms side; dad not so much.

I wish wife would have left and continued to ask for help. I wonder if this situation cropped up quickly or had gone on for a very long time?

So, wife had left, but came back to visit for the weekend?

That's even more awful. Daughter trying to save mom and couldn't. My goodness, that's hard.

Obits indicated Mom still had her parents and a brother, I believe. Father's parents were deceased and he had two sisters.
