NO! It was not! Slavery was illegal in all Union states during and after the conflict. It was legal in the border states that are technically north of something but not "the north". They were not Union or confederacy during the war so Lincoln and the Union didn't make the effort to worry about forcing the implementation of the emancipation proclamation until afterwards. 8 months later it was ratified for all of the states. Read son and check your sources!

In SC, some of the coastal cities banned plastic bags. This is the very definition of a local issue. However, the state legislature is very close to nullifying the local cities's ban and will make them legal again.
Regardless of how you feel about plastic bags (or statues), the idea of the state legislature overruling these moves by local governments is beyond stupid.

Tennessee provided more soldiers (33,000) to the Union Army than all the other 12 Confederate states combined.

Wow! No not my impression...it is an absolute FACT that Delaware was NOT technically part of the Union. They were a Border State...how many times do you need to be told this? Look it up...my tolerance for arguing with stupidity has reached its limit.

Huh?
Delaware had voting representation in Congress during the Civil War. They actually had a secession vote and voted to stay in the Union.
What is your definition of "part of the Union"?

Selling the city parks was a really f'ed up move. I don't really care about the statues but I have no problem with the city being punished for selling those parks.

That's my issue. They went about it in a completely and totally underhanded and sneaky way. In other words, in a typical Memphis City Council fashion.
