Those were the days my friend, and we thought they would never end.

I actually remember several times in my first semester at LSU, vividly thinking- ‘It doesnt get any better than this, make sure you savor it’…. I was dead broke, living in a crappy dorm, worried about passing classes- but couldnt have been happier… So while there have been some great times in the 30 yrs since then, im really glad i made it a point to take it all in when it was happening , and not take it for granted .

Reserve Officer Training Class was required of all male students. I learned to shoot a 22, march in cadence and that the basic org concept for the army was 9 to a squad, 4 squads to a platoon, 4 platoons to a company, 4 companies to a battalion/regiment?

The org concept of 9-10 ppl to a leader I still consider useful

When I went to LSU there were curfews and bed checks in MENS dorms like Johnston hall where I lived.

The one song that sticks out from the first time I went to Murphy's is The Meatpuppets "Backwater."

I used to skip class and go sit in Middleton (or the computer lab in CEBA) and read wrestling websites.

My first game I attended when I was 12 was Oregon St in 1982, which was also Dalton Hilliard's first game.

I remember walking down the stairs from my dorm room on the 5th floor of West Stadium and walking a few feet over to the student entrance to go into the stadium.

I recall scanning the student section to see if Greg Cook might get in another fight this week.

Hoping Hokie might get a chance to punch one in for us. Or Risher might have a really good game.

I picked up my first student football ticket for $3 from a kid sitting in a desk outside Coates.

I also saw Larry Foster running thru the quad with a purse for some reason?

I dont remember ever drinking Crown at Sports, only cheap generic alcohol and beer .

I do remember dancing to ‘Jump Jump’ by Cris Cross and ‘Bish Betta Have My Money’ by AMG, then peeing on the famous wall .

I remember Victoria’s Secret-like lingerie shows outside of the all-male Power Hall whenever someone would pull the fire alarm in the middle of the night and everyone’s girlfriends (or hookups for the night) would file outside onto the front lawn .
