Another interesting fact that I learned recently, there's an tiny island community in the Chesapeake Bay, Tangier Island, where many of the residents have a dialect that still sounds like a 17th-century english accent.

Seeing stuff like this and realizing that Spain ruled Texas for longer than the US and Mexico combined blows my mind.

I was going to say good for them because of the massive boondoggle they are, but looks like it was 1976, during the time they probably still used previously existing structures.
