I have a two car garage in the back yard. I keep it as clean as possible. I keep my lawn equipment, a frig and some other small miscellaneous stuff. I don't put the car in there because it is kind of PITA to get the car through a smaller driveway and gate. As soon as my family found out about my garage I got the calls "can you store this and that?". They got a big EFF NO!

Although mine is in the front, they don't all have to be. But I'm sure you already knew that.

It doesn't have to? My carport is at the rear of my house, and can't even be seen from the street. I don't have a rear garage and alley, because I actually have a yard.

So now you can't have an alley garage and a yard?

It's okay if you want to justify your carport, but it is in no way better than an enclosed garage.

That's my point, having a garage doesn't mean that your house is nice. I can point to several neighborhoods where all of the homes have garages, yet they are worth about half of what my home is worth (I have a carport).

Two car garage, we keep one in it. The other half is my workshop. It's neatly organized and can fit my truck in if necessary. But I don't like squeezing in there and not being able to fully open my doors, so I only park in there when hail is in the forecast.

3 car garage (but like all 3 car garages, it will on fit 3 SmartCars in it), but:

Wife parks her car in the double bay
My work bench/area is in the single bay

I bet your home would be worth more if it had a garage though.

My point wasn't that a carport is better than a garage, it's that having a garage doesn't mean that you have a nice house and not having a garage doesn't mean that you are "lol poor".

It would look stupid and would hinder access to my pool. But, if I wanted I could drop a couple thousand dollars and put a garage door on the front of my carport.

2 car garage. Wife’s car and my boat in the garage. I keep it clean because I’m American

ETA: everything in my garage is American made and runs on gasoline

i have a detached one and i park my vehicle and my motorbike in it. i have a small apartment above it that i plan on updating at some point. in the mean time it's where i go to listen to records, read books, drink scotch/bourbon and sip a little weed. no tv, only music and books allowed.

My garage is my workshop/chill area

Edit: Actually my wife's car is on one side and my workbenches/tools are on the other. The house we rent from has a driveway long enough to fit the length of the truck. I can't wait to move.

I got a 1600ft 3 car garage, and I get free storage questions all the time.
