I've interned at Chevron the past couple years, and at the end of the summer we have to give a 20 minute presentation to all the supervisors and managers on everything we accomplished over the summer.

I have two more in the next couple of days.

No matter how many times I've done it, I'm always pretty nervous.

Does it get any better?

Just know that most people in the audience dgaf and are thinking about lunch, etc.

And yes it gets easier the more you do it.. like anything else.

high school speech tournament as a senior. It was about a month from graduation and I didn't give a shite. I was just there to get out of school for the day and blew off the preparation. My teacher showed up in the room to hear me in person and I just winged it. I had been one of her favorites up to that point. She ignored me after that

Just take a few shots before you go on stage.

Go find an open mic and tell some jokes. Once you do that you can public speak anywhere.

And don't do any racist jokes, the climate is too hot for that right now and the country needs time to heal.

No. But you can do yourself a favor and practice your presentation until it's pretty much memorized. So get to it.

Worst was probably my speech for Student Body President in HS...

Professionally, I was giving a presentation to a group of clients/investors. Called the plans for expansion of their piece an "XYZ annex" instead of "XYZ Expansion". You would have thought I killed their first born.

I went to present my penis to this chick I liked after taking her on a date, but she just laughed once she saw it then left.

So there I sat, with my penis still poking through the zipper of my jeans, broken hearted.

Once you realize that the people you are talking to are nothing special you have nothing to be nervous about.

Had to give an impromptu speech in high school, my voice shook the whole time in front of about 200 people. It gets better eventually.

At least your penis is big enough to make it out of the zipper

I give presentations everyday to rooms full of people. It's get easier, but it is a love it or hate it relationship. I happen to love it. I never speak longer then 10 to 15 minutes before I get the audience involved. If your points can't be made in that amount of time you're to confusing on the subject.

If you have anytime skim over the book "pitch anything". It lays out the best way to get your point across without a lot of fluff. The worst thing is when the speaker keeps going for forty five minutes, when they could of had the info across in a few minutes.

If your using slides, please trim down how many slides you have to the absolute minimum.

If your nervous, realize that very few people in the room are actually paying attention. They won't remember you based on one presentation. They will remember the overall work experience with you.

A couple jokes are ok, but avoid to many.

If you don't know the answer don't try to bullshite an answer. Just say you don't know.

Last thing try to have an engaging presentation where the audience can participate and ask questions. You don't want to drone on with a bunch of people starring at you. If it's gets interactive it goes smoother.

I for one love presenting. I have no fear because I've just done it so many times. I don't get nerves either really, it's more anxiousness to get up there and be in charge of the show. Pectus-time.

I'd rather give 100 presentations than go up and talk to a girl on the street.

I had one in grad school where I think I said the word "uh" a dozen times. It just didn't go very well.

I practiced more for them in the future and they went much better.
