Is this place safe. Notice it’s right next to some of the dorms but BR is so sketchy I’d like some informed opinions. Thanks.

I wouldn't live there solely because of the clusterfrick of traffic that's always right there.

That and it's on the edge of the hood.

Traffic won’t be an issue. Her classes are all on that side of campus.

Didn't live at the Venue, but in an apartment nearby. The vagabonds that roam the Northgate can be quite annoying constantly asking for money. Lived in the area during the 2015-2016 semesters and graduated in 2019. The apartment complex I felt the safest in was the Villas at Riverbend on the corner of River Road & Brightside.

I consumed lots of illegal substances there almost 20 years ago. I'm sure they got all the bong water out of the carpets by now. That's about all I got.

The only time she's going to leave her apartment is to walk to class?

I wouldn't let my kid, especially my daughter, live in that location. There used to be robberies at that Chase Bank ATM all the time.

Is she already at LSU or entering?

It’s fine. Walking distance to campus and restaurants. You could probably lean back and piss on the new dorms they just built. They renovated them recently.

It’s Baton Rouge, so be aware of your surroundings….even on the LSU campus.

Oh and do not park anywhere near there without the right permits. They tow anyone out. And it’s Riverside. But the plus is that they have (or at least had) security.

I don’t know anything about The Venue specifically but my answer to that area for my kid was no.

Aster street is generally the line between the LSU area and crime ridden ghetto. Aster street is just north of the Venue apartments, but that side of Aster street has been gentrified with the new Band Hall and new Dorms. Its a safe place to live, but I don't recommend walking north of the apartment. You wont need to as LSU is to the south and the Northgate scene is to the East. The Venue apartment was very well planned as its entrance is to the south and is completely surrounded by other businesses and there's literally a trench between it and Aster street. It was designed to be difficult to access from the North by foot.

Yeah it’s State street so that part of north gates is okay. But I wouldn’t go any farther north than Aster or Roosevelt although that little part of Aster near the dorms and the band hall has gotten pretty nice.

If you choose The Venue or not…I do recommend trying to get within walking distance to the bulk of her classes if she can. Traffic in Baton Rouge is a nightmare. And parking at LSU can be an absolute bitch.

There is a similar but newer 5 over 1 style building on Parker Blvd on the South Gate. Might be cheaper.

My friends lived there. It’s fine. Plus traffic? Walk your fricking fat arse to class.

And if this is for your kid OP. You’ve now got a place to take a nice shite then walk back out to tailgate.

Already there. Lost out on the on campus apartment lottery and since only Freshmen can live in dorms here we are.

I'm not talking about class, dumb frick.

That area between 4-6 is a nightmare, no matter the day or what's going on.

Only freshmen can state in the dorms? Why would LSU do that?

She’s in Cypress which is fairly close to The Venue. Would love to stay in Cypress but after this semester has to either move into an on campus apartment or move off campus. I honestly don’t get that logic. Getting into an on campus apartment was like trying to schedule classes back in the day using Reggie. It was a total crap shoot and filled up in minutes.
