That's a pretty nice area. About 4 minutes from me. There's also a new neighborhood down the road off of Old Fort Bayou road that's pretty decent, the name is escaping me right now.

Phew. Thanks to you both. We're having to find a place sight unseen, so a little nervous--especially with some of the areas we Googled images of.

Haha. No you're good there. Great place to rent and see what's what and find what you like. If you're working around os it's perfect and you'll prob fall in love with the city.

Also you're one exit from the promenade which has tons of stores and restaurants. And just one exit or bridge from casinos and downtown Biloxi. Be sure to catch a shuckers game soon!

I'm in Gulf Park Estates in Ocean Springs. Once my house in Hoover sells, we are gonna buy in this area. I am about a mile from the boat launch and 2 miles east of the nice beach.

I drive to Goula twice a week, about 25 minutes to the shipyard and to Mobile/Austal 2 times a week. It's right at 50 minutes.

Traffic in OS is nothing compared to Hoover. Goula traffic is bad when the shipyard releases at 230 but I work for the gov so I don't leave until 4.

OS schools are great. Some really cool places to eat downtown and a good music/art scene too.

If you like running, we have a club that runs down town and we get two free beers after each event.

Property taxes/insurance aren't that bad. 300 bucks a month or so. If you are right on the water like Eagle Point Drive, it's gonna be around 700 bucks a month.

ETA: shutterspeed, if you are moving to OS, there is a house down from me for rent. It's in a good area, probably 1200 a month. If you are interested I can take pics and email them to you. My landlord owns it and they are good people

9 pages, debating towns to live in. I didn't know anything about the area when I moved here and a couple people on the board convinced me to move to ocean springs. I think PTBob was the one who gave me the most info. He was spot on, we love it here

Thanks, LSUTiger205.

We landed a place just off the interstate in St. Martin (Ocean Springs homes were further out, so we compromised). Submitted my resignation today and looking forward to coming "home" and trying out Coast living. We'll take some time to explore while there and decide where we ultimately might like to buy. We've been kicking around the idea of a condo on the beach, but we'll see.

Do you have kids? There are some awesome condos down town ocean springs that look like bungalow fish cabins. But wouldn't be great for a family. Within walking distance to all the good bars and eats. Also, some good condos right on the Davis bayou in OS that sell for 80-100k. Comes with a boat slip. They are off Beachview Drive , called Harbor Landing. If you got any questions I can help you out.

1 high schooler. We probably won't be back in the market for at least a couple of years I'm thinking.

A little camp on the water sounds intriguing, too, but I want to make sure I'm still around stuff.

Good decision! My husband was transferred to the gulf coast for work. He was here six months before me and explored the area. Where we ultimately bought is never where I thought we would be but it's perfect. I am all for checking out the area to see what works for you.

I have to say, I am jealous of all of you who live on the coast...I spent last week working down there and like it more every time I go down...

may even have to retire down that way someday...
