was in a band and we played a show there in the mid 2000's. I saw 2 meth deals happen in our hotel parking lot and later, ate at a Chinese restaurant that served meat loaf.
Next time, dont book a gig right off I20 near a truckstop.

the size of Gilmer for goodness sake.
Have a farm there and love the area. Friends own Jack Ryan’s in Kilgore and Tyler. Great place and probably best food around. I’m a fan of Lupe’s and Bodacious BBQ .
Longview has a good Harley;s Liquor Store.

Born and raised in Longview. It’s certainly not Dallas or Houston, but I’m super proud of my Longview roots. Longview is a big small city, and surrounded by a ton of smaller towns/communities (Marshall, Hallsville, White Oak, Gilmer, Gladewater, etc, etc)
Extremely safe, mostly white middle class to upper-middle class demographic, metro population about 100k, not great for nightlife but food options are good for a big small city.
Spring Hill area is the most desirable real estate
Longview and Tyler are basically the “main” towns in East Texas
Favorite foods...burger-Jucy’s, pizza- PizzaKing, Mexican-Papacitas, BBQ-Bodacious, steak-JackRyan’s, Japanese-Showgun, tacos-Jucy’sTaco
3 high schools,
Longview - biggest 6a?
Pine tree 4a
Spring Hill 4a?

Longview is only 45 minutes away from some of the best BBQ in the state of Texas ... Stanley's in Tyler.
So there's that.
So there's that.

No it's not. It's another shitty east Texas town equal to Alex without the traffic circle.

You’re crazy if you think Alexandria and Longview Tx are similar. They’re not.

Down off of Redwood Road around Union Grove. Haven’t been in a few months but love the area.

Is the Chicken Ranch still open in Longview? Went there once for a bachelor party 20 years ago. Interesting place.

Very familiar. There is some great land on 726 between 271 and 300.

Just do your own research on it.
I don't even need to read the thread to know that everyone took a shite on the town. I know this because every town is shite to the OT.

As a rule of thumb, Tyler is where the East Texas Oil Field monied lived, and Longview was where the working class oil field baws lived.
The Big Inch Pipeline starts near LeTourneau in Longview and runs to Philadelphia. Without it, we wouldn't have gotten that East Texas oil to the coast and would've lost World War II. Look it up.
I believe North Longview is where you want to be (in Tyler, south).
Have kids? I don't think it would be a good idea to send them to Longview ISD.

We want to move to Texas eventually, but neither of us want to be in a big city.
Sounds like winner, winner, chicken dinner then.

It's Texas so it beats any town in Louisiana

I have spent a good amount of time in and around Longview. It is a really nice, clean town. Good restaurants, some good shopping, and a couple of nice wineries close by. The balloon festival in the summer is really cool. It’s definitely an up and coming town, and given an opportunity, would move there myself. Hope this helps

Don’t listen to these miserable people they will say every town or city sucks. Longview is a decent place. Tyler is about the size of Lafayette and has everything you’ll need. Dallas is 2 hours and you can take trips there for all it offers. East tx is very clean and has very friendly people. Hills, piney Woods, lakes and rivers. You’ll never go to Shreveport unless you gamble. Between Tyler, DFW and possibly Houston, you’ll find enough to do if you want to take a day trip.
