They suck. I tried them. They are cruel for timid dog and easy to escape for an aggressive dog.

Don't use the cheap wire it comes with. There's 14 gauge that Amazon sells that works great.

Extreme dog fence works great. $500 did my yard with two dog collars. It comes with 14 ga wire. Takes about a week to train them. People who say they don’t work have shitty dogs to begin with that probably aren’t basic trained or didn’t spend the time to train them on the fence.

to the question 'are they humane' I say this: PROPERLY trained, the dog only needs to be shocked ONCE to understand the situation. You then need to invest TIME, walking the dog on a leash up to each flag, and then say "NO" and pull them away. Repeatedly during the first several days...the training is crucial. Properly trained, with ONE shock, my golden never got shocked again.
THIS 100%. I used it on 5 different dogs over the years on 5 ac. Works great. Problem, outside dogs coming in the yard.

Humane? Yes
Work? Yes, has worked with our Black Mouth Curs and Great Danes. You have to train them though, use flags or put some marking paint down so that they know where the boundary is.

Depends on the dog. If the dog is hyper or stupid, they wont work. We had two goldens. It worked perfectly. After a short period of time they wouldn't even test the perimeter. We list the collar once for 2 months. Didn't matter. We rarely put the collar on them.

We have one for our dog. Works as advertised until the lawn service aerates the yard.

Have used the Invisible Fence brand at 2 locations.......both around 2 acres. Have had minor issues that were not too difficult to remedy. Product works as advertised. You will need to take the time to train your dogs but they figure it out quickly.

Works great with our Doberman. If a ball goes over the line he will go up to it and lay down and whine. He will NOT cross that line.
The collar beeps before it buzzes. He’s scared of the beep because he got buzzed ONE time.

Moved to a new house. Walked my dog around the perimeter twice. She understood. Got an electric fence right here.

Guess what the most popular color is for dog toys?
(HINT: It’s Red)

I think it varies by the dog but with my lab I got a pet safe transmitter (no buried wire and I actually got two of them to make his area bigger) and it works perfectly. He’s a pretty smart dog so I didn’t even have to train him that hard with it, just put out the flags and walked him around the edge of it on a leash and when the collar would beep (didn’t have the collar on him at the time) we’d turn around and run back towards the center and I’d give him a treat. Did all that once and he got it with no further issues other than their collar has like 6 shock settings and I had to turn it all the way up for it to get his attention but once I did that he has gone through once it in 3 years
Again, your results may vary

Wait....pets experience the ghost turd too? How’s that possible when they don’t use toilets?
Nvm, misread the title as “feces”

Only had one.
Had a dog that was just tough and would run quickly, get popped and keep going.
The dog figured out, it only hurt for a second and just sucked it up

I purchased the PetSafe Stubborn dog system without the factory supplied wire last year and bought the better wire on Amazon.
It works well from my experience. Took my Lab/Border Collie Mix about 2 days to figure everything else out and year later no problems.
I also acquired a Blue Heeler this past weekend and he is learning the system and so far everything has gone well. About a week later take the flags down and you probably won't need them at that point.
The key is to keep the flags up so they get a visual Que to where the perimeter wire is at. This way you don't have your dog running at all corners of your property and getting shocked.
My uncle also has the same system and has stubborn catahoula that it contains effectively. You can see a path in his yard where she runs the whole property line constantly and it is about 5 feet from the wire.

Have the shock collar with base transmitter - set to around 100 feet -- works well on the lowest setting -- i tried just to use the beep setting, but that didn't work as well
had it on the high setting at the beginning and it shocked the shite out of the dog -- he looked like a dolphin doing spins when it hit him...felt really bad -- dog wouldn't go outside for a couple days

Are they humane? Do they actually work? Anyone have any experience?
I bought one to contain our puppy. He got zapped 3 times and has literally never gone to the edge of the fence again. He had been digging under and escaping prior to us buying the fence
The collar emits a warning tone humans cannot hear when the dog gets too close
it's also very easy to install

Have one for our dog. It took her 3 shocks to realize not to cross the flags.
Has only run across it 2 in 8 months times and both were decisions where the rest of the family walked somewhere and she decided “frick it. It’s worth the shock”
