Not really. If you're going to live up that way Kingwood can't be beat.

There are some good areas in Atascocita as well and Atascocita High School isn't terrible. But, I'd live in any of Jebeco's top 5 before I lived in Atascocita

Where in Humble? The Atascocita area has good schools.

What's the deal with Magnolia ISD? I live in The Woodlands and didn't pay much attention to school districts as I assumed it was all the same, but later found out small portions of The Woodlands to not fall under the Conroe ISD. I've heard mixed reviews about Magnolia. Currently planning to move into a better school district within The Woodlands, or bite the bullet on private school. There's always a good chance I'm moving for work before my son ever makes it to elementary school anyway, but just wondering.

Parts of The Woodlands are zoned to Tomball now I know. I didn't know about parts being zoned to Magnolia. I don't think Magnolia schools are bad at all but The Woodlands schools in CISD are probably better. Magnolia HS is smaller than TWHS and College Park by a good bit unless things have changed

Katy is good for the most part. Stay south of I10

Cy fair is hit or miss. The three high schools you'd want to be zoned to are fair, woods, and ranch.

Tomball and Magnolia are good. Little bit country.

Klein is decent if you avoid Forrest.

Conroe is good. That services the woodlands.

Couldn't tell you about others.

Humble ISD is good because of Kingwood. So long as you are in kingwood, you're good. Outside of kingwood, a bit sketchy.

I meant something like this site: greatschools.org will be far more helpful than some idiotic posts on this forum.

What's the deal with Magnolia ISD?

Magnolia West is slightly better than Magnolia HS with the new money going to West. Neither are that bad, but Magnolia HS seems to be a little more country. Montgomery is a solid school just north of there. Tomball used to be solid, but Tomball High has come down a little lately now that the district is divided. I graduated here in 2007. Tomball Memorial seems to be getting the better teachers, seeing as its the new school, with new resources. Klein and Klein Collins are nice too. Klein Oak isnt bad, but when I was in school, they had some kids that were a little too wild. I always heard stories of students dying from drunk or reckless driving over there. Klein Forest is a bit hood. Obviously The Woodlands and College Park are nice, but Conroe ISD also has Conroe High and Caney Creek, which are greatly behind the first 2 mentioned. Also, The Woodlands and CP have crazy high enrollments. I know Tomball and Magnolia (before their school districts got new schools) were almost half the enrollment of TWHS and CP. CFISD is a mixed batch. Cy Creek is a shell of its former self, but it still draws the Champions Area, which is nice. That is how Spring HS is now too. As previously mentioned Cy Fair, Cy Ranch, and Cy Woods are the nicer of the CFISD schools. Unsure about Cy Lakes. Langham Creek, Cy Ridge, and Cy Falls are a mixed bag, while Cy Springs and Jersey Village are at the bottom of the district. My parents say if they were to move to the area, and do it all over again, they would probably go to Montgomery.

Now you're talking. I don't know if I would have found that (had I been in the OP's position) and someone delivered. I think it's easy enough to differentiate between the idiotic posts and the legit ones.

There is a lack of diversity in the Houston burbs and it's schools.

Huh??

quote:

The Houston region is now the most ethnically diverse large metropolitan area in the country, surpassing New York City.
Two suburbs - Missouri City and Pearland - have become even more diverse than the city of Houston. Other suburbs aren't far behind.
These findings are from a report released Monday by Rice University researchers, based on an analysis of census data from 1990, 2000 and 2010.
"We are a little United Nations," Pearland Mayor Tom Reid said. "You go to one of our neighborhoods, and there will be a person from Nigeria living next to somebody from India, living next to somebody from Mexico and somebody from Louisiana."

My child's school in Pearland is incredibly diverse.

I live in Pearland as well. There is a lot of diversity and it shows in the ratings. We moved from one side of town to the other when we had our son, just to get into the better schools. We're zoned to Challenger, Berry Miller and Dawson.

Humble HS, no.

And let's be specific about Kingwood schools since there are 2. Kingwood HS trumps Kingwood Park HS.
