Any of y’all Houma kids remember the nasty pools at Legion back by Harc?
Spent the early to mid 80s in that pool, then to the park to play on that elevated frying pan thing

Catholic elementary schools are about $3500 / year
That's really, really cheap.

I can agree with that. Pizza Express is one in Chauvin and Prsequil Isle. Tastee was the one on Prospect.
My mom use to leave me and my brother $5 for lunch. We would ride our bike to Tastee and get a $4 large cheesy bread then go to Danny and Clydes and get a liter of Faygo pop.

+1 for Bobs and Seabreeze
K&B in Summerfield was where we bought all of our beer and Jager when we were in HS. Of course we went to Curleys anyway, but occasionally Brother Pat or some other teacher would be in there and that would screw it up.
Oh and La Casa. Only place we could go drink in our school uniforms
Then we all hit our LeMarks phase and started driving to Thibodeaux to hit the Retreat and Flannigans and LeM

This is a Houma pool related question, but does anyone remember which 90’s movie flop used Houma as the backdrop for a town in 1960’s Alabama?
Funny thing, I don’t even think they used a pool from Houma for those pool scenes.
Winner gets a meetup at Sonic for usual OT bidness.
You have your choice the one at the mall or the east side location.
Bonus points: Which 1980’s sequel was set in the sleepy town of Thibodaux?
The reason I post these two questions is that the OP can see what what these places looked like on the big screen.

Crazy in Alabama.... I think. I had friends who were extras in that movie. Not sure on the pool. Maybe Bayou Black pool. I don’t recall it being done at Imperial as we were using that pool back then. Wasn’t ellendale or Bayou Bien that I can recall either. Can’t remember for sure. Leaves the pool by Tarc/airbase and Chauvin pool for outdoor pools in the area. But again I doubt those...

That Legion Pool was a shithole. I actually went swimming at the Dumas pool once, me and just a few other white folks.

I just watched a trailer. Not a pool I’m familiar with in Houma that they showed in those scenes.
Dumas pool. Forgot all about that one. Never swam there.

Was nice until the east side of houma church groups started going, then it went downhill
Driving on MLK recently has turned me into a Houmaphobe

They really need to do something about MLK. I wish the parish would remodel it to be like Veterans blvd.

I've given up driving on it and either cut through parking lots or go around and just hit the red lights if I need to cross. My wife scares the frick out of me driving going from Lowe's to outback
