Looking to buy a piece of property to build on, within an hour or so from BR. I don't know anything about the area, but it looks a lot nicer than anything in LP. There don't seem to be as many trailers and run down places. How are the schools in that area?

Nice quiet peaceful place.

Have relatives with property out there. We have our family reunion there every year.

I went there for the first time the other day and was very impressed. Easily the prettiest landscape in South Louisiana. A lot of rolling hills and just all around very pretty. Lot of nice homes on 7-10 acres. I would definitely consider it if living out kind of in the country is your thing.

Where in Folsom? I'm fairly familiar with the area.

Heard there was meth labs and dog rings up in that part of LA. My ex-GF said chicken fights going down too.

Nice place for cycling but the people have a love affair with their blood sports and amphetamines.

Hard pass.

Not sure on the schools, but the area is pretty nice. Plenty of acreage. My FIL owns a horse farm in Folsom.

NW of lake Ramsey, off of Bennett Bridge Rd.

Im kind of surprised there aren't more comments about tweakers and amphetamines, that's promising. I was looking in the Ponchatoula area, but man, they have some shitty areas when you get out into the country.

Send them to private school. I believe Folsom schools feed to Covington High and I’m not sure of the elementary or middle schools. While Covington isn’t a terrible school, it is probably the least challenging academically in the parish.

As far as people. They were wonderful 15 years ago

I agree his post should be banned. I don’t need him snitching about my cock fights

Folsom is nice but you’ll be hard pressed to get to BR in an hour from there. Lots of horse farms and such, lots of old money in the area

I got lucky and found a nice spot outside of Hammond and it still takes me an hour each way

You are mistaking Folsom with Washington Parish.

It's actually "Ramsay (my Dad's uncle owned the land and built the lake)," and I know that area well. Most of the land along Bennett Bridge Road used to belong to my great grandfather, and his heirs still own quite a bit. My uncle's heirs still own quite a bit along Savannah Branch (near Donnie Road, Gene's Country Store, and Savannah Branch Church of God), and we own land along Turnpike Road south of Bennett Bridge. If you run in to any folks named Core, they're all my kin.

They're up near Sun, Bush, and Blond, or across the parish line in Tangipahoa.

Folsom has an Elementary & a Junior High.

There’s a decidedly agrarian aspect to the Jr High, FFA & the like.

Not the best academically of St Tammany Parish public schools to be sure.

The monied folks in Folsom mostly send their miscreants to private or parochial schools down in Covington.
