It's a nice very laid back city. It is windy all the time with hardly any rain at all. Can't tell u about the nightlife. But there is a university here and some pretty good looking young ladies. Moved here about two years ago and prefer it to BR area. You don't hear about someone getting murdered everyday.
My only complaint is that it gets to almost 110 heat index here everyday from end of May 'til end of Sept.
The water is pretty nice and lots of shallow bays for kayaking etc.
Oh yeah, I forgot about the Hooks. Wataburger field is a nice place to watch baseball.
But yes, if I were twenty again I would give it a shot.
Just don't like the heat as I get older.

Corpus is near the coast and has a minor league ball club, so I think it would be well ahead of the Rusty Triangle if you're a daylight/outdoors person.

But I think most places on Earth are above the Beaumont area in desirability.

CC sucks, the only redeeming quality is the fishing is good and the airport is so small you get there 30 mins before your plane leaves to get the hell out of town. If your looking at needing to put in a few years to keep a upward trajectory with your company then it's not the worst place you could go but it's far from the best as well. Most all the night life revolves around Texas Country Music and there are a lot of transplants from South of the Border, most of the women are big, and don't leave shite out at night as the meth heads will rob you blind.

Where do you live now? I just fished the pipeliners tournament two weeks ago. Water is better than anything in La. Port Aransas had a few nice bars but the people are Mississippi coast Ilk. It was hot and windy, but CC Padre Island seemed nice enough. It sure beat the hell out of Venice (not the fishing, just the amenities)

You’re an hour boat ride away forom Baffin Bay and LaGuna Madre. Great places if the fish are there.

There are worse places you could go for sure.

Would this be a decent place to live for a single professional from Nola is his mid 20’s.

From someone who has lived here all of his life with the exception of attending LSU, I would say that it’s better than BR.

The single scene isn’t great. Nightlife is on the upswing as downtown seems to be filling up with some people willing to invest.

Is the water there clean?

It is now.

Seems to be some pretty good fishing.

Great fishing!

Bottom line: it’s a pretty quiet place with some great opportunities in oil industry. People shite on it because it’s not Austin or Houston, but that’s why I would prefer it at this point. Your money will go much further down here. It’s safe, clean, and fun-living if you like baseball, fishing.

I travel there frequently for work. There are a lot of very good people down there. That being said ...

Corpus is weird as frick and there is nothing to do there. I told my clients to pick a spot for dinner and they chose Salt Grass.

It’s a dump. Super Hispanic crossed with shitty Texas beach bums. Lots of drugs.

No way would I live there unless it was very short term for A LOT of money.

Your clients screwed up. There’s great seafood and taquerias in every corner.

Compared to where? Lots of people on the west side smoke weed. I’ve lived here 30 years and have never been concerned with the amount of drugs here. That shite is usually busted at the checkpoint.

Dude if LOUISIANA could duplicate 1/10 of what CC has done with its little patch of coastline we’d be jacking off while eating ice cream cones. Dump? You’ve never been to Venice, Cocodrie, Grand Isle, or any other coastal shithole in La. It ain’t Naples (Fl) or even Orange Beach, but it’s far from a dump.

And CC actually is building a new bridge. That’s a sore spot back in LA.
