My 96 year old grandmother fell Saturday night. She refused to go to the ER until this morning. Losing blood flow to her leg which may have led to infection. Obviously life and death given her age.

She is being transported from Ruston to BR General as they are the closest who can treat what’s going on with her.

So are they generally good/bad/any opinions?

I know I’m reaching, but looking for a little hope if there’s any out there.

Had surgery there once. Youngest son delivered there. Zero complaints.

Not sure about BR General but I would guess that if they sent her there instead of somewhere closer like Shreveport then they must know what they’re doing.

It's a good hospital. They probably have a specialist or unit that specializes in what she needs.

That’s what I’m hoping. I figured Oschner’s in Shreveport would be the #1 choice.

Something about the hospitals in N Louisiana being at capacity . At Lourdes we got several patients from north of Alexandria . Very unusual. I’m not sure why. Maybe Covid is stretching places thin.

It is generally a well run hospital, there are a number of excellent interventional radiologist, vascular surgeons, and other specialists that your grandmother will have access to.

I would rather be brought to BRG than OLOL. Maybe unless it’s for trauma, but otherwise BRG.

I'm over 60 years younger than your grandmother and this was a very different situation, but I had an injury from a fall that required pretty major shoulder surgery and rehabilitation there in January 2019 and the treatment I received was excellent.

vascular surgeons,

From what I can gather, this is what they’re going for.

Thanks all. That makes me feel better. This is not your typical 96 year old. Just a month ago I went to see her and she was on the tractor bush hogging her back field.

Spent a week in BR General for Double Pneumonia a couple months ago. Great hospital and friendly staff.
