Literally, it's not that bad. People will literally feel sorry for you and help if you learn how to subtly beg. You can even literally participate in luxury type activities by getting others to literally donate them to you. Learning how to literally produce tears on demand is key. Finally, you must learn how to take advantage of literally every government handout you can find.

I was poor as a kid. It sucked. Basically just ate bullshite, played outside a lot, spent lots of time at the laundromat with Mom, etc
Also student loaned my way through college and working full time. Was about as poor as you can get.
Things have changed due to hard work and luck.

It would be a great idea to have every "priviledged" adoloscent live in poor conditions for about a month.
This is so they can appreciate the things that they do have.

Didn't think I was poor growing up, but looking back on my childhood...ya we were poor as shite
How was I supposed to know cream of wheat wasn't a normal dinner?
Mom straight up told me college was only going to happen if I paid for it.

Theres very little true poverty in the US. You need to go to another country to see it.
I'm guessing you didnt know this?

Now I know what my mom made when I was younger. My dad worked, but eventually quit to pursue his dream as an author (it was a mutual decision).
I have no clue how my mom kept the lights on and fed 3 kids. We never looked at ourselves as poor either.
I make significantly more now than she did, and I'm single with no kids and can't imagine having one child.
My mother is Jesus.

After I got out of the Army my wife and I struggled quite a bit. I had exactly enough money for my bills down to the dollar. After I got paid we couldn't even go to McDonalds as a luxury.
Once some unexpected expense came up and we ended up eating nothing but potatoes for two weeks. It's all we had the money for. I didn't borrow anything from anyone to get through it and didn't really tell anyone about it.
I didn't like it and worked pretty much day and night to get out of the situation. At one point I held a full time construction job, went to school 4 nights a week from 6 until 10 and had a third job that was effectively 20 hours of work on the weekends. I did that for almost a year.
I was broke but I wasn't "poor". I look back on the time with fondness. I wouldn't want to do it again but it helped build character and drive a positive work ethic.
The downside is that I pretty much became a workaholic at that point and it changed who I was. I used to be real laid back and quite interested in leisure. Now I have to make myself take a break even though it's been 25 years and I'm pretty comfortable.

Honestly, being poor had benefits. Back then there was no internet, cell phones, ESPN etc.
We raised cattle and hogs and crops. For fun we hunted and fished. If you wanted a toy you made you own or played sports. Cut your own firewood. Things were much simpler and there was always time to visit.
The money is nice but if I had a choice I would go back in the blink of an eye.

Not sure if you're being serious or not, but this is a very true statement.
I made the comment above about growing up poor, but I always had a roof over my head, clothes to wear, and food to eat.
Seriously opened my eyes once I started traveling and seeing what poor really was.

You can still do all of that and not pay for an expensive cell phone and cable
And have money
And have money
