Going to homecoming by just driving over and picking up your date. No parties no parents involved. Just dinner, dance, and try your best.

I suppose you could just say that they will never know what it is like to not be the center of their mommas universe.

Buy a guitar tablature book of an entire album

how about sitting at the turntable, with your guitar and listening to the song to try and learn the guitar part, and stopping, and turning it back a few hundred times to try and get it right?

I would do this with songs that didn't have printed tablature(my ear for music is shitty though, never worked out that well)

Ride on the rear dash of your parents Lincoln while they smoked cigs with the windows up

Chase the mosquito truck down the street as it sprays DDT

Get to play outside in the neighborhood all day without parent supervision or ride your bike around town

...they will never have to call a girl's house and speak to the dad before talking to said girl.

1. Know the pure joy and excitement of waking up on a Saturday morning and watching cartoons because that’s the only time they’re on.

2. Always making sure you had a quarter in case you needed to make a phone call while you’re out somewhere.

3. Getting a freshly printed test from your teacher and immediately start sniffing it along with everyone else in your class.

4. Having to walk beside the grocery buggy and not touch anything while your mom does the shopping because you know if you frick up she won’t hesitate to use the hickory she’s got laid across her purse. And if she does, nobody in the store would bat an eye.

Oh yeah, I had the butt cut, the bangs, and the tux. My girl had a mauve dress on with a fresh perm, I had a maroon tuxedo...yes maroon. But no ruffles, that wouldve been tacky.

The pic is pretty cringe worthy.

Crazy thing is that for homecoming that year, we could fit in today. We looked like normal people. Just slacks and sportscoat. I dont know what we were thinking for prom.

The waiting for AOL to sign in on dial-up or winamp, napster, bearshare for music always resonates.

Change the TV channel for the old man with a pair of vise grips on the channel knob.

Be able to walk into any bar with your old man as a pre-teen and sit on the stool next to him.

Run a 100 foot phone cord from the kitchen to your room so you could talk to your girl in peace
