Yes we all know the rules. But the rules of physics makes it dangerous for a bicyclist to share a highway with cars. Not much we can do about that but the known problem of inattentive drivers compounds that danger. So forcing bicyclists to have their backs to oncoming traffic makes them unable to dodge those inattentive drivers.
Must be nice to live in a mindlessly black and white world like yours.

A bunch of people let in by cops and taking selfies and not shooting or burning are labeled insurrectionists and sent to long prison terms.

Yes, and riding with traffic gave this now-deceased guy plenty of advanced warning that a vehicle was careening directly at him, giving him ample time to take action and save his own life.
