Nah I'm not paying a 15 year old 20 an hour

Eta people in this thread pretending like there are no minimum wage jobs at 7.25 per hour

I made 20 an hour with a college degree before taxes

$10/hr isn’t worth making if you go to Obamacare. It’s best to keep your income as low as possible otherwise you pay more than you make.

Yes you are.

Why on earth would you voluntarily deal with someone else's children for less money than your peers? Or at all if you can make more money doing something else.

It depends on the number of kids. It also depends on how big a hassle the kids are, My daughter has turned down a couple of babysitter jobs because the parents are nuts or the kids are a handful.

Is she babysitting for you?

Things to consider:

Do you want her to be excited to babysit for you in the future.. pay her more.

Is this purely a date night for multiple hours during what would be her prime social hours too? Then pay her what it would cost to get another babysitter.

If you want to make this about helping us out since we help you out.. then just remember this the next time she asks for extra spending money. Don't make this about rent and food. Since you are responsible for her and you brought her into the world. Those are you obligations as a good parent so don't begrudge her that.

The boy won’t work for me anymore. I paid him $20/hr to do general labor. More for pressure washing. He now goes out and washes windows and makes $100 in three hours. Sometimes more. He’s got employees too. They split $550 bt three of them last Sunday.

I am 44 and made $10/hr babysitting in the 90s. My teenage daughter in BR gets paid $20-$25/hr to babysit depending on the number of kids. Getting a good, reliable babysitter is tough, so you wanna keep one when you find them.

Pretty sad someone thinks their child’s safety is only worth 10 bucks

That comes with the territory.

Some of you act like you did someone a favor for birthing them and the rest is on them.

Pathetic.

Good luck finding any to work for you. Kids get paid almost that much for fast food jobs. I think McDonalds here starts at $19

Dude, be glad she is willing to work. Babysitting today’s demon children is worth bare minimum $15-20 per hour.
