How was he able to obtain any of this?

That parts easy. Smoke detectors. A buttload of smoke detectors. Saw it on an episode of Young Sheldon. He's REALLY smart, so you know it had to be legit.

...the Large Hadron COLLIDER isn't a fusion reactor. Scientists perform experiments in basic particle physics by COLLIDING protons (and sometime heavy ions) into each other in the Large Hadron COLLIDER and studying the particles that fly out of the COLLISION.

It was a joke. for a fusion explosion you still need a fission trigger. This kid has basically a small collider which has nothing to do with bombs.

I actually read the article and realize now his father footed the bill on everything.

Fusion has been achieved it's cold fusion that's the holy grail of power that is being sought after.

At that age I’d probably still be tempted to put my penis in it.

At 42 I'm still not working on nuclear fusion or jerking off. I'm wasting my life.

We achieved fusion a long time ago. The problem is it takes more power to achieve the fusion reaction than the reactor produces.

You found a book in the state that von Braun and his team of scientist worked for 20 years before retiring... It's really not that unusual in this state to find something like that

That's cool and all, but will he get an invite to the White House if he brings his reactor to school?

I wonder what the radiation is like. There was a kid who built backyard reactors and the EPA had to be brought in to clean up and the kid got radiation sickness

Skunk Works recently filed a patent for a "miniature" nuclear fusion reactor. If they're successful this will be a major game changer for space travel.

quote:

Why?

Rocket propellants are finite and extremely heavy. Satellites, or any modern interplanetary craft, rely on the momentum from launch to reach their targets. When possible, they’ll use the gravity of large celestial objects as a slingshot of sorts to gain velocity; see New Horizons and Jupiter. If a small scale nuclear fusion reactor is produced, it’s very possible these could be installed on space vehicles. The initial launch would still utilize rocket technology. Once in space you could utilize the fusion reactor to produce thrust, increasing velocity dramatically.

During his research, Jackson came across Taylor Wilson, who in 2008 at 14 years old garnered international recognition as the youngest person to achieve fusion after building a nuclear fusion reactor in his parents’ garage in Texarkana, Ark.

Fission of fusion?

Fission of fusion?

That one was trying to build a fission reactor. He never reached criticality, though he built a neutron gun to try to activate less dangerous materials into fuel and in the process irradiated the hell out of himself and his neighborhood. He turned his mom's back yard into a nuclear waste Superfund site.

Look up the Radioactive Boy Scout. It all started with trying to get a merit badge in atomic power by collecting a sample of each element, and ended up with him trying to build a breeder reactor in his backyard. He later joined the Navy hoping to become a nuclear officer. They didn't let him go anywhere fricking near the reactors.

He's dead now.

Harper's Magazine story on David Hahn.

If you like the story and want more detail, the author expanded it into a book called... "The Radioactive Boy Scout".

So will this lead to the hot cheerleader dropping her panties? If not, what's the point? Just be a kid.

No, but neither did anything you did in high school. The difference is that lots of people know the Radioactive Boy Scout existed and there was a book written about him.

Advantage: Radioactive Boy Scout.
