CONYERS — Rockdale County authorities are investigating a student assault on a teacher Thursday at Heritage High School.
A video, apparently taken by cell phone inside a classroom and sent to the Citizen Thursday, shows a female student engaged in a verbal argument with a female teacher that escalates into physical violence. According to the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office, the teacher was injured and is recovering. The student, a ninth-grader, was detained and taken to a juvenile facility. As a juvenile under Georgia criminal law, her name will not be released.
The school system issued the following statement Thursday evening:
quote:
“Rockdale County Public Schools is investigating an incident where a student allegedly attacked a teacher during class today. RCPS does not tolerate student violence towards any staff members. Students who harm other students or staff will be disciplined according to our Student Discipline Code of Conduct and will be appropriately charged by law enforcement. We will adhere to personnel and student privacy laws in this matter.”
The video, shared on social media, shows the female student initially engaging in a verbal, curse-filled assault on the teacher.
As the teacher is calling for assistance, the student knocks her cell phone out of her hand and onto the floor. The teacher pushes the student back, and the student screams, “You’re not going to talk to me like that! You’re not going to talk to me like that!”

You know, I'm gonna say it:
THOSE teachers do not get paid enough to deal with nonsense like that. What makes it worse is mom/dad blame THOSE teachers because xyz kid didn't become a scholar.
If I'm that lady; take the money and good bye. Go find another job because nobody needs to deal with that.

Agreed…and there’s no fixing this kind of behavior. It will get much worse.

Id bet my truck that student should have been expelled before this incident for stuff earlier in the year but school boards are so soft and worried about getting sued that administrators can’t remove the kids. So all the good kids that show up and do what they are supposed to get to deal with this. Not to mention good teachers are leaving the profession because this is what classrooms are becoming. Day cares up til the age of 18 where students do whatever they want with no consequences.

Awaiting our elected officials to express outrage about this and sympathy to the teacher.

Is this the part where we say" "She knew the risks when she took the job?"
or maybe... "Teachers need better training and de-escalation training."
Defund the Teachers Union...
/sarcasm off...
