I read a biography about Elon a few years ago. I forget the name. This baw would basically worked at his computer, went to sleep on the floor for a while and would wake up and start working again. Over and over. Not many have this work ethic. Especially if you are working for someone else. These people are unhinged.

Their paychecks may be spread out over 12 months, but teachers are certainly paid like they only work 75% of the year.

RIGHT! The guy that has worked 12-24 hour days for years, and is known for sleeping on the floor under a desk while staying at work week at a time.

Yep...that lazy fat bitch drinking coffee in the teacher's lounge has a much better work ethic.

I mean the two shouldn't be mutually exclusive. I think it's silly to criticize Elon's work ethic (we can maybe even argue he goes overboard) but also think it's a wet blanket to suggest teachers as a whole don't have a good work ethic.

That was true at one time. Today most of them are little more than zoo keepers for the ferals and the illegals' kids.

There are 260-262 working days (M-F) in a year.

Teachers work 190 in SC (180 for instruction, 10 for professional development, prep and meetings)

They have 14 weeks off... Joe Blow Plant Bro might take 2wks off.

And most people working in jobs that require a Bachelors get time off as well. More than 2 weeks.

The average teacher pay in Kentucky is $58k. Several of those folks have a Masters degree as well (in order to obtain Rank 1). They're definitely not getting paid what someone with similar education would for a "full year".

Nah. That's still true today for a lot of teachers. Especially given the kids that are in school from a behavior perspective versus 10-20 years ago.

Median salary of an Industrial Engineer in Kentucky is $76,400. Median vacation allotment is between 2-3 weeks.

Dividing salary vs weeks worked (49) is $1,560/wk

Your teacher, salary divided by weeks worked is $1,526/wk

Teachers are not underpaid by any stretch.

How many of those have a Masters degree?

So an Industrial Engineer in Kentucky typically does not have a Masters. Most teachers making at least median wage do. So all you're telling me is that an IE without a Masters is getting paid the equivalent of a teacher with a Masters.

What is the work product of each? Plus, I thought we were talking Bachelor's degrees.

Teachers are great... but I do not believe they are overworked nor underpaid.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. Especially given the attitude and effort of the parents of kids they're working with at this point.

I couldn't deal with that, personally. In that regard, and a few others, teachers have my sympathy and respect.
