By "this" I was not referencing the take down of confederate stuff. I am talking about the whole movement. How do you guys function in life?

By your own statement, the states of South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia and Maryland all should change their state names, since their names are symbols of the British crown that fought 2 wars against the United States.

You’re talking about the confederates right?

No, I was responding to Alt26's post to the effect that it is not about the monuments. If you think it is I feel sorry for you.

Yes, you were talking about "American" culture. You do know the Confederate States of America were the opposing side of said America right?

Usually by staying on topic.

You post that bullshite in a thread about Confederate memorabilia, and then are confused that people think you are talking about said memorabilia?

Good lord, man.

Probably not. There's definitely some overreach in this hyper-censoring trend. I was just speaking on Confederate symbolism in this instance.

Some overreach, huh?

Guess what happens in places where there are no Confederate statues

An all black civil war unit memorial was vandalized in Boston

Here's Abigail Adams being cleaned up in Boston. Hell, they even defaced a 9/11 memorial.

I get that you may not care about certain things being destroyed and removed out of some moral code of conduct, but these people aren't offended by just Confederate symbols. They hate every symbol of America, including 9/11 memorials. Sooner or later they're going to come for something you think is important and you can't say a damn thing about it because they're just following your logic you used to justify this.

Look at what I was replying to. The whole point is that it is not about the confederate stuff and won't stop there. Next it will be Columbus, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson. But you already knew that.

I'm not down for the destroying of statues of historical significance though. Don't get it twisted

George Washington was a slave owner. Why is it ok to honor him?

Thomas Jefferson owned slaves. Why is it ok to honor him?

Andrew Jackson owned slaves an ordered the slaughter of thousands of native Americans. Why is it ok to honor him?

We even have these people on our money. Why should they be honored for such evil?

That's a good point. But at the same time I think you'd agree that the reason certain people want these statues to come down is not because they are of leaders of a war against the USA, but because they were members of a racist "nation", time period, people, etc.

Ok. Fine. The statues come down. Those vigorously arguing for their removal are satisfied right? But hey, Tarrant Co. is named after Edward Tarrant...who lived in Tenn. and Kentucky during a time where slavery was legal. He then moved to Texas...but owned slaves (legally) for a period while he lived there. If the confederate statues have to come down because of racism, then certainly the County can't continue to be named after a racist slave owner, right? So, yes. We solved one "problem". But we are "revolutionaries", right? There is still injustice to fight for. The statues are gone. But what's next? Oh, the name of the county

Colonies that already had names before the "United States of America" was a thing. That wasn't the gotcha you want it to be,

You folks seriously this mad about confederate shite not being in public? My God.

I mean, i am agreeing with you on that point, dude. But Washington, Jefferson, and Jackson were forefathers of the United States of America.

The Confederate States of America literally opposed and fought a war against that nation.

Your prior argument was that we shouldn't honor symbols of those who fought against the US. Why distinguish when those symbols were obtained when the issue is "they fought against the US." But you and I both know that line is disingenuous. It's meant to set a precedent for removing statues and monuments and then incrementally broaden that justification until they're all gone unless they meet the SJW 100% purity test.

Ok, so you support what they're doing knowing that it will lead to the removal/destruction of pretty much everything.

Look, the Germans just want the Sudetenland. I don't see what the big deal is, they speak German anyway.

They committed mass genocide yet they're on our money. We're supposed to ignore their blood orgy because they wrote a few documents? Nah.

Yeah I don't know about the world because I'm not a huge gaping pussy about some sisterfricker not being able to wave a Confederate flag or cry about muh statues of Confederate generals who literally opposed your country getting taking down.

I vote right. Cry more.

Again, you missed the point showing, again, you don't have any critical thinking skills.
